shifting isn't as smooth as the honda. Especially in first. Bit notchy. I hear on the Protege forums that, when the tranny breaks in it gets smoother and also this fluid helps out alot to makes the shifts easier.

I can attest to the smoothness. It also feels crisper. I changed gear oil in both my RS and my last car, a SR20DE powered Sentra.

may void your warerenty though, redline is extremely slippery gear oil. And in order for the syncros to work they need a certain mu value, a coeffiecient of friction that is high enough for them to do their thing. Redline, especially when cold is notorious for gear grinding. All that said i still use it in my tranny in the FC but i am extremely cautious and rev match always. Good luck kyu jsut be careful. I absolutely love the mazdaspeed and i personally hate fwd with a passion. That car has really great handling. The only thing i HATE are the seats. the car easily outhandles the grip the seats "provide" i'd change them for sure and make sure you keep the engine stock because they're notroious for blowing up with jsut a boost controller, let alone more. tranny is too weak for big hp as well. but yes i like your new car, congrats

Redline gear oil doesn't seem too slippery to me. I've been running 75W90NS in my WRX for a few thousand miles and the syncros are noticable faster. Before I was running the local favorite, Royal Purple. RP makes fantastic motor oil, but their gear oil is just too darn slippery for the syncros to work right. Redline gets my vote for gear oil.

Yup OG is where i got mine Easy to find from RT66 take RT234 towards Manassas Mall and from Manassas Mall take RT234 towards RT66. Next make a Right on Balls Ford ( if coming from the MAll) OR A LEFT (if coming from RT66) go down Balls Ford for about 1/4 - 1/2 mile you'll com to a lil Indust Park on the Right side thats where there at. Its right after the first right hand street you can make. Place is coool

I've used two different redline gear oils in my car:

75W90 - gears would grind frequently

75W90NS - gears would grind much less frequently, but still occasionally.

I'm going to try a rogue recommendation of just using some dino gear oil.

I try to support OG if at all possible, but there is also a place in Chantilly (behind Pohanka Acura). Fast Lane Cycles.

Also RPW (Racerpartswholesale.com) will save you probably 1.50 a bottle, but they only run their free shipping deal sometimes.
