Default GRRR!! Window won't go up!

Of all the luck!!

My Legacy is in my garage, missing a shifter and an A/C compressor, needless to say, it is incapacitated at the moment...

So what does my XT do? Breaks its driver's window! I'm guessing the regulator is screwed up or something. The motor still works, it will pull it down, but even if I pull it back up, it will fall down about 2 inches...

I've never done it before, and I guess it's not that big of a deal, but why now???? I have two tests in college this week!!

Sorry had to rant...

Hey man. I saw your post over on the USMB. I really wish I could help but since I've never really worked on a power window I don't know what to say. Just rip the door panels off both sides and start comparing things until you find something that doesn't look the same. Then you've probably found your problem.

BTW, also make sure you've got power coming out of the switch. Doesn't sound like the up/down switch is bad by the way you said it goes back down on it's own when you pull it up. If I had to guess it's stripped out teeth somewhere.

I empathize. My passenger window is stuck one inch from being closed. Yucky in hot weather. Very yucky in rainy weather.

Well, I pulled the door panel today, and after receiving a little education about regulators, my cable is strung out and hanging everywhere. So looks like I need a new regulator...

I am willing to pay $30 with motor and shipped for anyone that has one laying around...

I won't bother posting in the Classifieds because most of the people there would probably have no clue what a 1988 XT is anyway, since it's not a WRX
