Well, my second car (after the Singer Gazelle) was a Saab 96...

it too was a flat four. But it was also an air-cooled 2-stroke with 3 gears and a very weird auto-neutral feature: if you lifted the gas pedal the engine disengaged from the gear box and you could change gears without using the clutch. Nifty little feature until I found myself going downhill on ice with four friends. Had to use the road banks to stop.

Fortunately, the feature could be turned off.

Aah, those were the days.

Sweeeet!!

I too am an ex-Saabophile. Former owner of an '89 SPG and an '87 900S here. Fantastic cars. My dad has a 9-5 Aero, it's our 8th Saab as a family.

Have a Nice Day?

Steve,

with those wheels it looks like you should be on the Bonneville salt flats with a parachute strapped to the back of that baby!
