update: vehicle was towed...

Quote:
heh. just got a call from the boston police and the car was just towed but it didnt show up as being towed due to "a clerical error". I guess even though my cousin pays $200/month for that parking spot he still needs a pass in the car. oh well, at least my car is safe. Wonder if the city of Boston will reimburse me for the rental car fee because of their "clerical error"

Default Been there, done that

I already notified the Hoboken PD, who really seemed not to be interested at all.

officer 1: "no one steals subarus, they steal saturns"

officer 2: " Yeah, you sure you remember where you parked it?"

me: "yes sir, would you like me to show you the spot?"

officer 1: "well, just be sure and tell us if you do find it, because we don't want you getting pulled out of your car with a gun to your head"

me: *sigh*

officer 2: "ok it's in the system, we'll call you if it ever gets found"

I guess there wasn't much for them to do, but they never even asked me if there was glass or anything where the car was parked, and they made me walk over to the station on hudson st.

You might print out this thread and some of the other recent stolen car threads from NJ and show them, perhaps that would make an impression.

My car got stolen off the dealer's lot the night befor I flew out there to pick it up... would posting the VIN be of any help?

... I ended up getting a WRB w/ silver wheels instead of the gold wheels, and settling for one with a few more miles on the odo brand new.

Default Found my car - well sort of...

Heres an excerpt from an article today in the star ledger:

"In one of the most brazen acts to date, on Saturday, around 5:30 p.m., car thieves attempted to steal a black 2004 Infiniti parked right in front of the bay windows at a Route 22 diner in Mountainside, in clear view of patrons and diner employees.

When the owner of Echo Queen diner realized what was happening, he called police. His son ran out to stop the thieves, forcing them to abandon the attempt and take off down Route 22 east -- but not before a witness jotted down part of the license plate number of their car, a black 2004 Subaru Impreza.

Police believe the Subaru was stolen out of Hoboken, Osieja said.

The same car was the subject of suspicion in Summit and Springfield, where police broadcast alerts about the vehicle just minutes prior to the diner incident.

Summit police reported that the car was seen near an attempted car theft on South Street, while Springfield police received reports of the vehicle moving erratically on Shunpike Road. "

PWN3D

I called up the guy who wrote the article, he confirmed with the police that it was my car.

I'm now refering to the car as big foot.

lot's of people claim to have seen it but no has been able to catch it. What I would like to know is how 5 different boroughs of police along with state police all looking for this car cant friggin find it.

Subaru Stars Stolen from Lyndhurst, NJ

My 2003 wrx sedan was stolen 1/27/04 from Lyndhurst, NJ.

Anybody familiar with the area knows that Ridge Road is the main drag. The car was stolen on a side street overnight at the corner of Ridge Rd. Never heard a peep from the alarm.

Police responding next morning said it wasn't the only car stolen that evening.

Recovered in totalled state 20 days later in the lovely city of Irvington. No wheels, huge gouges up and down both sides, and major front end damage. Irvington Police told me they recover 150 cars/month AVERAGE.

My insurance co. cleared me to remove a couple of mods (Blitz intake, etc.), and I saw it sitting in the wrecking yard in Slayreville near (4) other wrx's -- hope they weren't yours!

WRC, send a PM to Paisan and ask him to put your car description on the Tri-State alert system, info here- http://www.azpinstalls.com/tristate911/index.html
Might help you get it back if someone spots it.

Thanks Mulder.

I was talking with Andy (Weasel 555) yesterday and he gave Paisan a call regarding this. Andy also pm'ed me an email address that I though was Paisan but it turned out to be the 911 email.

I sent a note to that email (tristate911@azpinstalls.com) and Mike T said it was the entire 911 list.

Andy got the info in the list so hopefully it will turn up.

I think the mods have to resticky everything. Same situation in Member's Car Gallery. Not only that, I liked how the stickies were seperated from the rest of the posts.

Default Stolen Wrx in Jersey

I feel sorry that my first post has to be about a stolen car, but i was given no choice. Stolen from Linden, NJ a 2002 sedona red wrx, plate number NNT74U. No factory wing, and no aftermarket parts. Trunk has a small series of dents that can be seen under the light (if that helps at all). Any information would be great, just email me at Ruffie203@hotmail.com or call the Linden Police Department. Only thing i regret is not seeing them try to take it. Thanks everyone.

How long did it take for this car to surface? Theft date was Feb, recovery post in Jul?

Another vote for stickiness!

Is this the 4th theft in a week? I was hoping the rash of thefts was over!

The period of calm was likely that our guys were nabbed for something else and were vacationing in their cell.
Since it is looking like it's starting again, my guess is they're out.
