Talking 2002 Imprezas Spotted at SOA HQ...

Since I only live 10 minutes from SOA HQ, I decided to take a drive by and see if they were hiding any WRXs in the lot. No WRXs, yet. I did see a couple of the following:

2002 2.5RS Sedan
2002 2.5RS Wagon
2002 Outback Sport

The WR Pearl Blue 2.5RS sedan had the UK spats on the front and back corners, which looked good. There was also a White 2.5RS (can't remember if wagon or sedan) had a deflecto-shield on the hood. I'm gonna go back this weekend, take notes and snap a few digital photos. I'll post my findings and some pics next Monday.

The deflecto-shield was tinted a smoke color... looked bad on a white car. The WR Blue RS had the 16" rims and fog lights, no hood scoop.

Question: could you tell if it was a real black, vs. the very dark blue that seems to be the closest thing to black this year?

Also, was the grey the same goldish one as on the current Outbacks, or have they gone back to a dark silver without the gold tinge?

Black with grey-gold (titanium) would look nice. I'd have to see the silver--doesn't sound good with gold-grey.

It looks like the bumpers and wheel-wells are painted the 2nd color, as is the bottom skirt on the sides and the OBSport-only door bumpers. But this year, the rest of the doors, all the way to the bottom, appears to be the main color. Odd, but not necessarily bad.

I hope maitreg.com is right and all Imprezas will now have rear LSD!

Great--I'd like to see the new OB Sport better. Looks like the paint scheme on the sides may have gone a little funky for 2002.

I think SOA HQ had a Black Outback Sport with the Titanium Grey lower body panels. It actually looked pretty good. Just like the one on http://www.maitreg.com/cars/impreza/...backsport.asp.

The 2002 Outback I saw was definetly Black. The side cladding was more of a charcoal grey. I didn't get the hint of a goldish tint. I'll definetly check it out better this weekend, if they are still there.

are those spats going to be an option for the US-spec WRX?

I think they honestly make a night and day difference in looks.

I saw the spats on a white RS at SOA HQ and they looked to "glued on". They didn't "flow" into the body contours.

True, you can even see how it looks like that in pics. I still think it makes it look a whole lot nicer.

Wink

I live 5 minutes from the Port of Vancouver. There is a huge SOA headquaterlot. Where they bring cars in from sea before distributing to dealers. I to have been stalking the lot as I drive by on my way to work. I haven't seen in WRX's yet.
