Default STi wheel questions

1. How much do the stock wheels weigh?

2. What is every body doing about snow wheels?

3. How wide are they?

The wheel/Tire combo weighs 41.5lbs... Bridgestone says the tires weigh 27lbs, so the wheels ought to be 14.5 or 15lbs. However, this seems low, so I'll defer to someone who's actually weighed the wheels by themselves.

I put on SSRs (w/spacers) and S-03's at only 35.5lbs. Actually, Bridgestone says the S-03's weigh 25lbs, so the SSRs would be 10.5lbs. This is not the case, since they should be 12.7lbs. Odd.

1. I've heard anywhere from 15-17lbs, never weighed them.

2. Rota SDRs from subydude with Wintersport M2s.

3. 225/45-17

Concur about the SDRs. They're inexpensive and look quite nice. I use them for racing wheels.

Anybody know the stock offset of the new Suby/BBS wheels? This info wil come in handy while shopping.

In a few months I'll put winter tires on the stodk rims. I'll take my bathroom scales with me and weigh a bare rim at the tire shop.

I wouldn't mind getting another set of stock rims but have any of you guys seen the price? HOLY COW!

rumour mill has it compomotive is developing a 16" that will work over the brembos. if anyone can, they can... i'm trying to hold out for those, but I may have to just go for an alternate cheap set of 17s like SDRs

Russ
I weighed them fairly carefully, on a decent quality scale and came up with right on 15#

Hmmm... 15lbs isn't bad... but I like 12.7 better.

If you use the Rota's for track or autox use, be sure to inspect them frequently. A Rota attack came apart on a regular WRX during an autocross here in Houston.

I didn't see the wheel, but I understand it had either a defect in casting or some sort of corrosion around the spokes or both.

Probably a good idea to inspect most wheels now and then.

The OEM BBS wheels are PERFECT from the backside, at least my 8 wheels are.

The 12.7 lb wheels I was referring to are SSR Competitions. Nice, high quality, semi forged wheels that are a breeze to clean.
