Post Helmets and general race gear in Bay Area?

Damn, didn't realize how much I use the Search mechanism...

Anyone know a good place to try/buy helemts in the Bay Area? Does Helmet City in Oakland actually have a store?

For that matter, does anyone know a place in the bay area that sells all sorts of race gear? Seats in particular. I've been able to sit in some Recaro SRD's, which I love - but I want to get a non-adjustable seat like the racing Sparcos. I'm a skinny-guy, so I want something pretty tight.

I am also looking for a shop that sells race gear. I have heard that there are shops near Sears point and laguna seca, but I don't have any addresses. Also I think there is a shop down in the hayward/fremont area but I am not sure...

Anyone??

Here is the info:

Hope this is what your looking for.

Killer! I'll check them out... They've got a fairly rudimentary website at:

There are several places to buy helmets (if you like motorcycle helmets.). The largest choice in the area is Road Rider in San Jose on Old Monterey Road. They carry most brands.
There is a store at Sears Point that has seats you can try out..Momo and Sparco racing seats. But they normally are open only during the week, and some Saturdays. But if there is an Event at Sears Point, you have to pay to get in. They carry Car racing helmets, momo and sparco stuff, 5-point belts, etc.
If you want to try out some Recaro seats, I know that Griffen Motorwerks in Berkley has some demos to sit in. Had about 5 types last I was there. Problem #1 is they are not open on Sat or Sun.
Also, you might try SF BMW..the car place..downtown. They were selling Arai helmets at a resonable price.
By the way, if you haven't looked at helmet for a while...they are expensive for good ones. Open face, about $150 up. Good closed face can go upwards to $500-600 for a Arai RX7-RR4 or a Simpson.

Good hunting.

Thanks for the responses, guys...

Is the place up at Sears Point Wine Country Motorsports? I might try to go up there tomorrow morning.

For helmets, go to any motorcyle shop. Online, try www.Racerwholesale.com for helmets, belts, gloves, etc.

As for seats try my friend Andrie in SF, NSXboy415@aol.com or NSXboy415@hotmail.com

He is a Recaro and Sparco seat dealer in the Bay Area. Tell him Gary Lee sent you!

bluesaint, why don't you donate the helmet to the SCCA? We all know they need them, they have already lost a few loaners because they seem to walk away.

Bell Motorsports in Oakland is pretty good too. They do mostly internet sales, but you can try on stuff there and the staff is friendly and down to earth.
