I just do see a resemblance... The Neon is like While the impreza is like

Plus, the Impreza's lights are 3D same as the Mercades and the Porsche, but the Neons are really flat and boring... Plus, the Neons pretty round compaired to the Impreza, and it doesnt have that O\___/O hood dip thing going on either...

Have a Nice Day?

Is it just me or ,on the first pic, does the WRX look like a Chevron car? You know, the claymation ones they have on their comercials. I could just see it as one of those cars, talking about how it loves Chevron with Techron.

I think if Porsche had never existed and had no already-known tradition, people would laugh at the 911 design, calling it cute, Pokemon, etc. But it has a tradition, and has established itself, and looks like nothing else.

The Impreza could have been much more conservative, and instead they chose a unique look. I'm glad. In time, it too will have a tie in people's minds between the look and its reputation. For now, though it is new. Just try to imagine if the Porsche look was entirely foreign, though--we'd all think it was completely bizarre.

(By the way, I think eyelids make the 02 headlights look more like eyes--and they don't change the circle. The circle is still there in SHAPE and defined by a seam--it just isn't all reflector anymore. I like the stock lights better.)

"Its WAY more NEON than Benz or Porsche"

Lets see... AWD, Boxer Engine, Turbo... I think your mistaken. Especially on the headlights.

These actually look like a Neon in terms of headlights:

This head-to-head comparo really brings out the differences. I was always under the impression the lights looked like Neon lights but I've been looking at Neons lately andthey are not at all alike. To my eyes, the WRX lights are a nice piece of industrial engineering and design. I likes 'em.

I only have one thing to say.. GET OVER IT..

it does not look like a neon! So what if it has round headlights! So do a dozen other cars. In case you had not realized it, the standard headlights look more like a Camry, or a Prizm. Their is only so many unique designs out their. And the Impreza was never one if them from the onset. It was a typical canned rectangular headlight. This neon thing has gotten way out of hand.

I suppose a BMW looks JUST LIKE A 68 Pontia Tempest.. they both have 4 round lights! They must be the exact same car, right.

When I saw the WRX in person, belive me it looked nothing like a Neon. A neon on its best day could not look that aggressive.

But to each his own. If you just cant get over the new look, but all means, do not buy one! Leaves more for me. The thing you have to realize is that Change is unavoidable. The car will change again in 5 years or so. And you know what, you wont like it then either. Its just the way people are.

Love it or hate it... its all we are getting. If you think it looks so much like a neon, buy one and put a scoop on the hood, since its SO similiar, we i-clubbers wont even know is not a subaru! Think of the money you would save.

Why the heck did Subaru put the turn signals on the top of the headlights??? The white one with the ebrows looks evil, but no one from the front will know if your turning, unless they are just parking lights like on our cars.... Anyone know for sure if the blink?

Yeah, I believe those are the front blinkers. The Japan market light clusters are a little different, and those eyelids just cover up the highbeam, but that would cover the blinkers here in the US, and that's not good. And if anyone has seen a WRX in person, you know the pictures don't do it justice. Might look sorta Neon-ish in pics, but looks much better in person. I'm still hoping that someone comes out with a good headlight replacement, and that one on the home page is a great first step.

Talking

I was hoping that someone would agree. I'm not crazy, really!

I love the new look, I don't think it looks like a Neon at all. When I saw it at the Auto show everyone was commenting on how good it looks. Personaly I think it has a style all it's own, just like the RS. And that's one thing I love about it. People criticise it's looks because they think with a conformist mentality. (If it is different, make fun of it.) So if you don't like the way the headlights look, do what the article in SCC says. Buy one of the other cars in it's class, and stare at it's tailights!

Buck

I actualy looked at a neon today in real life and they look nothing a like. Maybe the shap is some what similar but it is placed in the body completly differnt. And does not fallow the body like the WRX. Thats just my opinion.

Actually... I just saw what looked like a new jeep (highly disguised... i love detroit ) prolly a 2003 or 2004... and it looked an awful lot like the WRX front end on the top half... with i had a picture of it... imagine a jeep with the WRX headlights and then a second set just below that (also circular) very interesting vehicle...

I've seen it to. From L.A. It was in the autoshow book I think. But I have seen a picture. It lies in the body lines like a WRX. I think the lights are a little differnt shape.

First neons are not bad looking cars so what if they are compared. After seeing a New Age WRX in Japan and seeing one in the LA auto show, I can honestly say that I like the looks.

I'm happy it has unique looks. So many automakers copy BMWs look for their performance sedans. I'm just glad Subaru went with an original look. Well, they did say that the E-class Mercedes inspired the headlights but overall.

If you have not see it in person believe me is is one of those cars that photos just don't capture 100%.
