Default Remove Intake Snorkel/Arm Thing Too?

I know many people have removed the silencer, but what about the intake arm/snorkel thing that scoops in cold air? Does it still actually do anything if the silencer box is removed, since there is no longer anything connecting it to the airbox?

I'm considering just taking it out if it's not really serving any purpose... I figured it may still posit some cold air in the general vicinity of the airbox opening, but I could be wrong.

Well, some people take out the snorkel. But when I get my rex, I plan on just removing the silencer and getting a elbow arm that connects the snorkel and air box with no restriction.

So the general consesus seems to be removing snorkel = ok? I probably won't be getting that connector piece, if anything I'll try my hand at another short ram someday.

i just removed both the snorkle and the vent...i replaced the hole in the well with the stock part that fits the 2.5 (like 5 bucks) ....instead of taping it and making it look ugly

When I took out the silencer, I installed a velocity stack to connect the air box to the fender. I also left the intake scoop/snorkel which I would like to seal with the opening in the fender later on. Without the silencer, you're sucking air in directly from the fender and the snorkel provides atleast some fresh/cold air to the fender while moving so its a good thing. w/o it there's just a hole to the hot engine bay.
