turbo or no?

I'm new to this thing and I wanted to know if throwing even a mild turbo in will compromise engine life. Cuz I'm thinkin I'm gonna have my Impreza for a good 10 years minimum, but I'd like some more power too, but if it kills my engine in the long run (i.e. less than 200,000 miles) then I don't think I can justify it.
What do you guys think? Worth it anyway or can the engine take (EJ25 no 20)

Just remember that a turbo but large amount's of stress on the interral's know if your lookin to do mods in the motor (h/p interrals then it's ok). Know the stock interrnals can handle it up to a certain point. I want a turbo really back but you must read up on them and know what your doing. You can mess up really easy and blow your motor and tranny. So look to spend about 6 grand for an all around good setup. Or you can can N/A which would take some time but it could be safer. Thats my dollar bill with change....
