Post 2002 WRX order

I just ordered my new wrx today. What is the chance that the dealer I am getting my car from (a small town dealer here in Washington) will rod the hell out of my car before I get it by going on a few joyrides and/or test drives (seeing how they will prob. order only one or two this year)......Any ideas I want the car to be properly broken in.

Tell them in writing that you expect your car delivered with NO test drives. One good way to insure this is to write them a letter and send it registered mail, return receipt to the sales manager.

I would fully expect that my WRX is not driven by anyone, except to unload it, and perhaps test the alignment and brakes by anyone before I get it.

When I purchased my new car a couple years back (Lincoln/Mercury dealer), I made the dealer promise that no one would drive it before I did. They had my deposit and I made sure they knew I was serious when I said I would walk away if they broke this promise. They called me when the transporter came in, and when I got there it was parked right where the truck driver left it. I took the protective plastic sheet off the hood myself, and I left the plastic on the seats for the drive home. I told them that I didn't want a dealer badge put on and I definitely didn't want their bay monkeys washing it or doing any other sort of prep (if you knew this dealer's service department, you'd understand). I took delivery with less than 3 miles on the clock.

Assuming you've put down a deposit, this is your car. Your dealership should be willing to extend the same courtesy to you as mine did to me. Be nice about it and tell them your wishes. If they have any sort of respect for you, they should be perfectly willing to do as you ask. It worked for me. Congratulations on your WRX, I'm jealous.

Josh

Beachbum, that is cool as hell! I would love to be able to "take the wrapper" off my new car. It would be like unwrapping a giant x-mas present. I gotta call my dealer today.
