Question wheel and tire width

I just got a 2002 WRX sedan, it has the 16 inch wheels on it now, and I was looking for some new wheels and tires mostly because I don't trust the Goodyear tires on there now when i'm driving my car hard, and secondly, I really don't like the look of the 16 inch wheels. I was just wondering what the maximum width of wheels that will fit on the car, without being wider than the fender flares. Also, does anyone know if they make aftermarket fender flares for the WRX?

8.5 inch wide is the widest I've seen without modification. Tires the widest were 245's. Yes, there are fender flares available for the WRX.

245's may need rolling of fenders and may have difficulty with coilover suspensions.

225's are a no-brainer.

Yeah, 245's might be a little extreme, I'm not looking to create some ultimate racing machine here, just a solid ride that's gonna hold the road better than the 205's on there now
