The BRAT! That was one of the first subaru's I ever knew! When I was like 10 years old my family went ot the subaru dealer and I saw the half car/half truck BRAT and I wanted it! I thought it was so cool... but IIRC we ended up getting a used legacy wagon.

After that subaru, my family became an all audi family, until recently when my dad made the switch to MB... but now 15 years later, we're going back to Subaru for an STi.

I forgot to mention... these things weigh about 2000 pounds soaking wet, full of fluids, and with a driver in them. That's a slightly ( ) modified 2.0L turbo in that First Generation BRAT- it probably has pickup like a rail gun .

I still want a Brat really bad. I almost bought a 78 but it was too rusted for what I wanted it for. My roomate just bought a 86 Hatchback that I was looking to get, but Im glad she got it so now I can hunt down a Brat.

I unfortunatly won't be in the market for a $2500 Brat for a few months. If you still have when I can save enough, then I will. Want to send me some pics to give me some incentive? What's the engine looking like. I will go on the Top Ramen Diet if needed.

Its not finished yet, so no pictures

140K on the body, 65K on the engine (came from an old grandmas wagon) The carb on it sucks, so its getting a weber carb soon.

Dear... mother... of... god.

I don't think you could put more power in such an unassuming vehicle. Imagine the look on someone's face when they see something like that leave them in the dust.. they probably wouldn't even believe what just happened.

I WANT ONE!

Someday.... I would love to make a BRAT STi... but not like that green one, needs to look crappier and be a gen 2, not gen 1. My current brat has too nice an engine in it, and really not a flawless body, so its not really a street / show vehicle.... it has a solid frame, but I do need to fix a rust spot or 2.

And to have a brat that would take the 250+ HP... I would want to start with (yes I know they are VERY hard to find... and can cost up around $5000 sometimes....) a totally rust free body.

I grew up riding in the back of a Brat. I use to love those seats. Not very safe though if in an accident.
