Default 2.2L to 2.5L will this work ?

I need a quick answer. If i was to buy a 1997 2.2 L AWD 5-Speed 4 dr and i wanted to take the motor out of a 1999 2.5RS 2-door would i be able to do an easy bolt up swap of the motor and trannies along with the harness and computer of course.. or is it goin to be harder than i can imagine.. I basically need to know will the AWD Drive train of the 97 2.2 be strong enough to handle the larger motor and transmisson of an RS is there any differnece between the AWD components of a 2.2 and 2.5 ? pleaes is anyone has any feedback for me let me know what you know.. thanks alot.
Paul

2.5 Will bolt up to the existing engine mounts and transmission. You will need to rewire some things if you are going to use the 2.5 ECU. You will also need a 2.5L exhaust manifold becuase the 2.2ls is a single port per side where the 2.5 is dual port. Its not that much more power, it will handle it fine.

The AWD components are the same. The transmission is basically the same, exact the gear ratios are probably different. You'll need to ask that in the transmission forum to know for sure, but others have done it.

The ECU will control the 2.5 liter engine as well. Just get the engine including the exhaust components, and you should be fine.

I'd ask about specifics in the conversions forum, as that is what you are doing. Plenty of people have done this swap, so I'm sure someone in there can help you.

correct, mechanically its all the same. engine will drop in and bolt up, as long as you have a 2.5 ex.manif.

will probably have to do some wiring for the 2.5 ECU. dont know how much.

i am considering the same, i heard the ecu will plug right in if the donor is a 98 (since 97 and 98 are 99.9 % identical)

So if I have a 2000 2.2L and I am getting a 99 2.5L What exactly will happen in this process? Will I need the 2.5 ECU? I know the tranny's match up and that it bolts right up.. But what exactly is needed? I havn't been able to find the full story of what someone would have to go through to do this. Thanks.
