Have a Nice Day? Best time to go buy MY01?

I am SERIOUSLY considering buying a 01 RS. I just really like the old body style. Should I wait until closer to the arrival of the MY02s or would now be as good a time as any? Also, what is a good out the door price for an RS? Thanks in advance, everyone.

I never intended to buy one last saturday, but walked out the door with one...

Sticker on it was $20,045
I put the leather on, which they originally wanted to charger $1300 for, but came down to around 750...
I ended up trading my OBS, they gave me 12,600 for it, I owed $6000-so we ended up financing 14,500- a bit more than I wanted to, but with the leather, I couldn't resist.

I'm not sure if there will be as much selection if you wait too long. If you're really serious, go in, and make them "wow" you. If you can get a decent deal, I'd go for it now. Interest rates I think will only get higher...so try to keep that in mind.

I started a post yesterday about the MO01 Impreza RS (Click here to read that post string) possibly droping in price as we get closer to the WRX being released. To make a long story short, Subaru is going to stop taking orders for the MY01 RS at the end of November, so I would get one before Thanksgiving. That way, if you want a specific color or options, you can order one and be sure to get it.

The salesman at the dealership that I am working through said that they will be submitting the orders for the WRX's in January and they should hit the street state-side in April.

Hope this helps!

I just ordered my RS about a week ago. I test drove the one they had on the lot and decided that I wanted a different color. From the impression that I got, the dealerships are really eager to get rid of their current stock, but I still got a screaming deal on the one that I ordered. It's still going to be 6-9 weeks before I get my car though.
My 2 cents to help you out.

I may have been the last person to buy a MY00, but I just got it 2 1/2 weeks ago...The dealer already had '01's on the lot so they were MORE than happy to let me have it for invoice price on it. It was quite possibly the last '00 but hell maybe you can still find one and get a good deal.

if ya live in the tri-state area ...I can get you a sweet deal! or if you live in the '01 RS coupe AT tranny, both packages, moonroof deflector, arm rest ext., wheel locks, car cover $19.5 ...that's under invoice ...with out tax & tags ...so if you go to the right dealer ..you can get invoice on a MY01 now and not have to wait

In the upper midwest, WI, MN the cars do not sit on the lots long. If you see one with the color you like snap it up. I got a silver RS sedan with keyless, good stereo, hvac filter, wheel locks, rear diff prot, and block heater for 19,620 out the door. the car did have 268 miles on the odo.

Cool

Go to subaru.com and then go to the dealer locator. Type in your ZIP and it will pull up the 3 closest dealers. You can then open up the dealers page and search their inventory. If none of the first three have it, you can keep going to the next 3 and so on... That's how I "helped" my dealer find mine!!!

Generally speaking, the dealers are a bit more motivated to make a sale at the end of the month. They're usually trying to meet their sales numbers and there's also a running rumor about 'lot costs' involving the number of cars they have on their lots... So, you've got 36 hours left to make a deal.

If your dealer doesn't have the car you want, you can have him search for it and trade for it.

I live in Atlanta, and my dealer traded with one in West Virginia to get my little red wagon.
