Default STI V6 viscous center LSD VS Stock 2002 WRX center diff

Is the STI unit any different then the OEM WRX unit? The seller did not know the version 4/kw, 12/kw or 20/kw. All he knew was it was the std STI V6 unit. Is this any better than stock?
