Default how do you cancel the extended warranty?

Ok after a month of ownership I plan to cancel my extended warranty on my 04 WRX...

how does it work? do you call or e-mail someplace so they send you a check? I'm clueless when it comes to this...

Have you considered calling the dealership where you bought the car? Surely they have procedures in place for this.

there is a form you can get from the dealership that will cancel it and they will refund the full amount (first 90 days) or pro rota it (after 90 days).

My dealership has included it and will probably screw me if I told them I don't want it and plan to cancel once I'm in my new ride.

I've tried to cancel it, but my dealership seems kinda shady with it. They made me write a letter ( no big deal ), but insisted on filling out the forms and sending it themselves. They said it should be a quick turnaround, but its been a while now with no word. Is there any other way to check on it? Also they said that they do not send you the check; I'd rather just have the cash because I'm already ahead on the loan and I'd like to put some money into my car. Any suggestions?

I also had to go through the dealership as well, but without the letter writing. I just signed some papers. I think you can call whoever you took the loan out from and give them your account number and ask for the balance or if it's been credited recently. That's what I plan on doing sometime soon.

quite a few people on this board have cancelled and have recieved checks in the mail. Although the extended warranty is included within your finance deal, it is a seperate contract. If you cancel there is nothing stating that it has to be credited to the financing loan. A refund will be given and it's up to you what you do with it.

Couldn't you just install a Manual Boost Control or a high flow exhaust and cancel the warranty?

write or call SOA and include VIN, dealer info, reason why you want to cancel and a rep will give you a call to confirm.

usually they deduct the amount of use on the car by month.

the dealer can't do crap for you.

I don't understand why you would purchase an extended warranty and then modify the car. Those seem like conflicting intentions. In a perfect world I doubt you would have any problems getting your money back for the warranty, but some Subaru dealerships are much less tolerant of mods than others. YMMV. Heck, they might not even bother looking at the car.

Most people don't know they have an extended warranty until they are signing paperwork. Sales people keep quiet on this and then hit you when your just happy signing away.

I had an 00 RS and bought the "gold" warranty. 6 years, 80,000 miles. I traded the car in 3 years exact from when I bought it. Got a milage statement from the dealership, and sent that with a letter to Subaru of America. 3-4 weeks later got a check for 1/2 what I paid. Not bad considering I didnt think Id get anything.
