Default Simpler fog light mod

How's this for a simpler fog light mod --

The kit I'm looking at has a switch relay that's supposed to be clipped onto the power(+) wire for the low beam headlights. Low beams on, fogs work, low beams off, fogs off. There have been a number of posts that detail a dash fusebox mod to allow independent switching of the headlights and fogs. I'm a novice, but they all seem complicated to me....

Why not tap the fog switch relay into the power wire for the parking lights? It's lower wattage, but still 12 V, and as long as the parking lights are on the fogs should work. Anyone tried this?

It's not quite that simple, the headlight circuits are a switched ground system. To really understand how it works and how the fog light cutout operates it helps to look at the wiring manual.
To make the fogs independent of the headlights both the power and ground have to be separated from the existing wiring.

I used a wiring set (including relay, fuse, switch, wires..) from an aftermarket fog light kit that I bought long time ago. I tapped one of the wires to the parking light, then spliced into the fog lights through a fuse and a relay. Now, I cannot use the factory fog switch any more because I'm using another swtich, but my fogs can be turned on when I turn the parking lights on.

To me, this was easier and quicker than trying to figure out the factory wirings. Yes, there is now an extra switch, but that's ok.
