I did a big research before I got mine
I wanted best light output with nice color
4500 was nice but not white enough for me, so I went with 5500
don't regret it, made a right choice

Mmmm, isn't the fact that 4500 whiter than the 5500?? Anything close to 4300-5000 should give you a galaxy white appearance on the HID, (that's what most OEM HID are at.) anything close to 5500 to 6500 should have a blue hue to it. 7500-9000 is kinda greenish to deep blue and 9000-12000's just insanely violet. (very dim too) Personally I am aiming at the parts that's gotta be out fairly soon on proxenon.com which's 6500 (only they carry that particular k.) and it's kinda bright white with just a little blue hue to it; which it serve the purpose of lighting the road and looks awesome too. BTW, you do realize that putting the HID parts on your ride is illegal in CA rite? Hope that help, Late.

Stick to projectors, and 4500K or lower, after that, you're trading light for looks.

Please don't be lame and put them in the stock reflector housing and send glare all over the place. People jamming HID's where they shouldn't go (among other things) is what got them 'banned'...

Does anyone know what the Kelvin temp of the 04 Sti HID's are? What about the EDM/JDM Sti (bug eye style) that was 02-03 or whatever it was over there

I have 5000K. I did trade a lil light for looks, but not much. And for anyone with an 04, the stock reflectors work VERY well with HIDs, there are no projectors even available yet and I have a very good beam pattern. I need to adjust my angle a little bit, but other than that, they are perfect.

I just want to tell you; please check the housing and the plastic cover of your headlights I heard rumors about people that ruin the chrome paint and melted the plastic cover of the headlights.

i could see that happening, but ive had mine in for a couple months now and havent noticed any problems, and i was looking very closely at my headlights just the other day (working on developing some clear headlights ). Technically though, someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the operating temp of a xenon bulb is actually lower than a halogen one, but like i said i could be wrong on that.
