Post Prelude `01 over a WRX 02

Sorry to say but I rather buy a Prelude 01 SH rather than a WRX 02 even if it does have more power atleast it doesn't look that bad. Sorry to say if I dont get a chance to buy a RS 2.5 model I won't be buying any care that Subaru makes

I love the 'lude - but at a meager 6'1" - I don't fit.

My hair rubbed the headliner so much during the test drive that I got static cling. Same problem with the Integra GSR. Just try ordering these cars without sunroofs.

Anyway, be prepared to follow (not lead) if you take the Honda over the Sube. Looks are important, but they ain't everything.

You mean to tell me if you fitted in a Prelude you wouldn't take it over a WRX?

Wink

If I fit in a Integra GSR back in '96 I would have bought one.

If I fit in a Prelude back in '97, I would have traded in the '96 Jetta GLX that I bought.

If I didn't hate the shifter (and gear ratio) in the '98.5 Contour SVT, I would have traded my '96 Jetta GLX.

If my wife didn't threaten to call me "musclehead", I would have bought a '99 Ford Cobra (and traded my . . .)

If I didn't read that the new WRX was coming out in 2001, I would have bought a Y2K 2.5RS Sedan (and traded . . .)

If I won the lottery, I would have bought a new M5.

There's a lot of little decisions that go into buying a car. For me, I like:

1. 4 doors (ohh RS4 avant!)
2. Manual transmission
3. Sporty ride

Too bad there haven't been many affordable selections in the past 5 years. The thought of owning WRX Sedan or Wagon makes me smile from ear to ear.

It's true though, you gotta admit that the WRX is ugly not just in my opinon but lots of people have reflected their opinion on the new look. The Prelude makes the WRX by far looks inferior.

You're right, and I always buy my cars based on what other people say of the car's appearance. Further, if one car is more aesthetically pleasing than another, I will always purchase the more attractive car, since I'm all about image, rather than performance.

(Hopefully this whole thing will go a long way towards separating the wheat from the chaff, and this board's fun-to-read quotient will increase once again).

Greg.

MMMM... SVX... S-V-X-Y!!!

I like the lines of the 'lude very much - it's a very different car than a subaru, maybe a bit more 'classy' than new WRX, or the current RS, sleeker.

But the SVX dude - no contest.

Wow, Greg I thought you're all about performance not looks....

Well yeah looks are somewhat important but I don't think its the most important. I get that "you should of gotten a Prelude" thing now and then. People tell me that looks better than my ITR, it did cross my mind once in a while, about how people seem to say the Prelude looks way better. But after the initial thought, it my car, its not for others, so that "its just another Integra", "its yellow", "its got a big wing", doesn't get to me.

Thats funny, cause my cousin thought the Prelude headlights were HORRIBLE when it came out... and now we have this whole WRX fiasco.
BTW, fwd vs. AWD, 190hp vs. 215+ turbo hp, new model vs. old model, your choice

A Perlude over a WRX, what the world has come to???
I own an Impreza GT, one drive in it and you won't be able to live with a whimpy Perlude!
Don't get me wrong I like Hondas, but even the Integra type R didn't come close to the mighty Impreza, not in "Top gear", "Car", "Autocar", "evo" and "drive".
they are just not in the same league!
why don't but a Beetle the are fashionable?

Prelude or a WRX.... it's the end of the world!
I cannot even fathom comparing a FWD understeer car to an AWD turbocharged world class car!
what's next Type R or a 22b?!
Oh well.... if you never push the envelope of a car, then get a Prelude.

YellowR: shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Isreal, often I agree with you, but not this time:

"Don't get me wrong I like Hondas, but even the Integra type R didn't come close to the mighty Impreza, not in "Top gear", "Car", "Autocar", "evo" and "drive".

Yes they are. The ITR will give an Impreza GT a strong run on a track, as is evidenced by the infamous seriese of Japanese track videos pitting the J-spec ITR against the WRX (and Civic Type-R). Given, the drivers may not have been of equal skill, but remember that the ITR was at a significant horsepower disadvantage and still managed to win the race in the end. The Impreza is not the only performance car out there, nor is it undisputably the best. I don't expect you to agree, though

Greg.

Greg is right, JDM ITR is comparable to JDM WRX STi Versions (On the track). Also since performance wise I heard 22B isn't that much better than the STi Version V or VIs (I read it in Japanese magazines), the 22B vs Type R might not be as whack as it sounds. Espically if they used a Mugen Type R.
Also Prelude isn't all about looks, its got pretty good performance all around, and its not an ordinary FWD if you get the Type SH, its got that I think its called Active Torque Control which is supposed to make it drive somewhat like a RWD. Nice interior too, not for rear passengers though.

Greg: Sorry I didn't mean to blow your cover, I won't do it again I promise.

Why would you do that? the lude isnt really that fast. It looks cool but that styling has been around for a while. The New WRX isn't that ugly. I think people are over exxagerating this a little.

Wow! there are alot of posts. Anyways, I over looked the obvious its SVX thanks for the correction. You're all are right that the WRX is faster than the Prelude but it's ugly man I can't stand driving a car that is just so ugly.

YellowR592: you say that the Prelude lights look ugly? Take another look at the WRX I mean it looks like a Dodge Neon on crack or something all deformed looking.

Also Kostamojen: I live in Cali so the AWD doesn't really matter to me all that much.

We'll that's all for now. I'm out.
