Has anyone else played this? I rented it for Game Cube yesterday and I'm stunned. They not only matched the original they made it better!!!

I haven't tried the Xbox or PS2 versions yet, but I'm gonna grab the Xbox ver. when I take back the GC ver.

Weapon choices... AWESOME!!!

Mitsurugi = still teh mang!!

Yeah, I got the xbox version. I gotta say, its the most fun I've had with a fighting game in quite some time.

Ya, it's a pretty good game. I just can't get into it though....(too many moves/combos to learn)

Now, I just got Toyko Extreme Racer Zero w/Logitech driving force wheel the other day. Now THAT game is badass! This will definitely hold me down till GT4 comes out.

They didn't add many moves, most of the guys play practically the same, and they didn't improve the graphics much over the Dreamcast version that came out over 4 years ago.

I think with the amount of time they've had since the first soul caliber they should've made many more improvements. I still like the game, but I'm kind of let down by the lack of progress.

My favorite new character is the dude with the broad sword, he's like hwang from the first one.

I have the PS2 version and it's dope!! I'll admit that notmuch was changed from the original, but it's still a great game.

I've aquired some weapons in the story mode...how can I use them in the arcade mode?

IIRC there's a separate mode that's just like arcade mode except you can use other weapons. You unlock it in the story mode.

I have the PS2 version too. I use my Namco joysticks that I actually bought for Soul Blade on PS1.

You have to unlock "Extra Arcade" or something like that mode. There's an "Extra VS" and "Extra Survival" and etc.

link is badass!! this game is pretty damn great. it's soo much faster than the other fighting games out there. we tried playing tekken tag after soul calibur and it was just too slow. i think i might have to buy it. but the physics engine for taki has been toned down a bit.

There's a soul calibur controller coming out that'll work with the GC, Xbox, and PS2. Hopefully I'll be getting one here in the next week or two...

I recently bought the X-box version and had a question for anyone else playing thru the weapon master segment. In three of the last four chapters (i think it's chapters 7, 8, and 9) the last stage will not open up, meaning that a road will not appear to give you access to that stage. Has anyone else ran into this and know why or do I have to go thru and beat it all a second time in order to open these areas. Thanks in advance for any input.

After finishing all the weapon master cities go back to them.

If they are still red, select it and push right... each city has at least 2 objectives.

I think Alagol is where you need to be (far right, top)

The fight is pretty nasty though. Have to beat 4 people in a row on 1 health bar, and if you fall to the ground at all you lose, oh and you only get 15 ses per person. And you have to fight Link twice (GC ver).

Just select a city and scroll right. When you finish a city it turns blue. ALL of them must be blue before you can walk the final path.

Oh and BTW, after Alagol, when you get to the next town, go to the store. You can now buy Soul Edge (complete) for each character. It's an AWESOME weapon!!!

I only need 2 weapons with each person now, the 2 past Soul Edge (complete).

I still don't have all the characters. Actually, I'm not even sure who the last ones are.

There are 3 more spots for characters. But there are 4 other character, lizardman, assasin, inferno, and berserker, that I would assume you can use.

I guess I should take this as an opportunity to look that up huh?

Unlock Berserker
To unlock Berserker, beat weapon master mode once to unlock extra mission weapon master mode. Then go to the dungeon where you fight only berserkeers and beat it's exter mission. Your health will only recover a little after each round so I'd suddest being link and using the Cane of Bryna.

Assasin
To unlock Assasin, beat weapon master mode once. Then go the the stage temple of the damned and beat the extra mode and that will unlock him.

Stupid Weapons
Each Character has a "stupid" weapon. Ex. Seung Mina:Rake LInk:butterfly net Nightmare:a boat oar Kilik:a plain bamboo staff ect. To unlock them, beat weapons master mode once to unlock extra mode. Then beat random levels' extra mission and you will eventually unlock one. Hint: they are usually in hard dungeons.

Play as Yoshimitsu
Use Weapon Master mode and finish chapter 2. Beat Yoshimitsu in the last area and he will become playable.

Play as Cervantes
Use Weapon Master mode and finish chapter 3. Beat Cervantes in the last area and he will become playable.

Play as Charde
Use Weapon Master mode and finish chapter 2. Beat Charde in the first area of chapter and he will become playable. You can only win with a ring out in the match.

Play as Sophitia
Use Weapon Master mode and finish chapter 4. Beat Sophitia in the last area and she will become playable.

Get Character Bios and Demo Theatre
Use any character to finish arcade mode or extra arcade mode.

Play as Seung Mina
Use Weapon Master mode and get to chapter 6. Beat Seung Mina in the "Palace Icon" area and she will become playable.

Another Practice Mode
Finish weapon master mode using any character.

Another vs. Mode
Finish extra arcade mode using any character.

Get Arcade Version Opening Sequence
Beat extra time attack mode on extreme difficulty 4 times.

Another Arcade Mode
Finish arcade mode using any character.

Unlock Characters in Weapon Master Mode
Play through Weapon Master mode to unlock characters, modes and stages. As you beat a character in Weapon Master Mode, that character will be unlocked for use in other modes. Unlockable characters include:

Cervantes
Charade
Lizard Man
Seung Mena
Yoshimitsu

I have everyone except berserker and assasin. Still don't have stupid weps though

It's not fast compared to the Capcom or SNK 2D fighters.

It's kinda lame how they didn't change the exhibition theatre katas.
