Looking to move the TV so I can replace it with a 61" DLP TV

Before you get the DLP check out the new LCD projection. They are a lot better than the "XBR" models of last year. Sony just released the "grand Wega" models. I was all set to get the DLP when I found out about the new LCD projection. I am not sure they even have them in the stores yet, but you can find out about them on Sony's site.

I love the 50" Grand Wega LCD projection TV that I got. Side by side I found it to not be as harsh as the DLP. Also some of the ghosting that I saw on the DLP does not occur on these.

I read a few articles on the LCD... The black levels aren't up to scratch like the DLP.

Plus as I work for TI I can get the 61" DLP for probs $1000 + less than what you paid for the LCD

Hmmm, those Wega's go for $2500 - $10000 for what appears to be the same model on EBAY.

Appears as though some sellers are interchanging LCD with Plasma.

?
The TV I bought MSRP is $3299

I got mine for significantly less. Enough that you would have to get your DLP for $500-1000 to spend more than 1K less than I did. And no I did not get it off ebay.

I guess a 61" DLP isn't a fair price comparison against a 50" LCD....My price on the DLP is $3400. I was actually thinking Plasma when you first responded.

the 60" LCD is only $200 more.

Sounds like you are probably best off with the DLP. The new LCDs have better blacks and dual anti-reflextion filters which make them really nice in a room with windows or lights on.

Enjoy your TV when you get it. When I was planning on getting the DLP there was a several month waiting list. In the end I love the one we got. Our room would have been over powered bya 60" so we chose the 50". Even at that it is freaking huge!
