Default speeding ticket readout?

Hey guys
I got a speeding ticket a week ago for 86 in a 55. Which I wasnt even close to doing. I was going about 65 with the flow of traffic. when he told me this I was a little confused. He also wrote a ticket for my inspection. Which was fine it was up. So he asks me if my license has any problems and I said no. He walked away like he was just going to check or write up a stupid ticket. He came back with both tickets. I then asked him if I could see the the radar or some sort of print out. He said the number flashs then disapears. Is there any truth in this?

I asked the cop to see the gun and he showed me. 81 in a 65. 4 points. w00t.

I don't know what the laws are as far as them having to show you....I doubt they do.

He doesn't need to show it to you. In fact he doesn't need the radar period... If you got a deposition of what he witnessed it will say

I observed (your car) traveling (speed) which was confirmed by radar using tone and display. (or something to that effect) A traffic stop was initiated and (you) was identified as the driver using photo identification. blah blah blah,

Anyways, yes its legit.

ask for calibration records of the gun and the officers training with a radar gun. a lawer also helps cause he does all the work for you. my lawer got me out of 3 speeding ticks....one was a 91 in a 55.
Cheers,
Jim

If the officer refused to show you the radar, that can work for your defense, as it shows the officer may had something to hide.

And from my measly knowlege of radar detectors (I've used sports radar for pitching, running, etc and I'm family of 2 patrolmen and one Ret. Lt. Detective) the speed dosen't 'Blink' then go away... and here is why:

1) A tracking history is required to establish guilt, your car must be observed going your top speed, either acceleration to it, or deceleration after.

2) Most units allow a speed to remain locked in for an indefinite period of time, so it could be a speed from 2 hours ago

3) Cops aren't perfect. If a number flashes on the screen for a second and then goes away, who is to say that the cop didn't see that digital-boxy '6' as an '8'?

I've heard that this works, but I'm not sure. You send in your relavant fine and then some. ($120 ticket = $135 check sent in) The court supposedly sends you the remainder back to you in the mail. Do not cash it. Points will not be assessed until all finincial situations are taken care of. And they allready have your fine, why would they bother taking an extra steps to pay you back?

Does not work. That's urban legend # 998892763764876872489999.

If you're going to court on your own, don't bother with calibration or training records unless you know how to interpret and disect them. Just talk to the prosecutor before you see the judge and see if you can work yourself a deal where you a get a fine and no points. Good luck!
