What is the difference if any between the new japanese STI ecu and the US STI ecu?

They're not interchangable. The JDM 2.0 STi is not drive by wire.

i just bought a jdm motor and i am putting it on my subaru but the motoe cranks but doesnt turn on could it be because the ecu
