just like the topic says...I've seen previous posts where people say that the group 35 reversed battery is a perfect fit into a 2002 WRX without extending any of the battery cableing. can someome confirm or deny this for me?? thanks
Dave

If you mean this one yes it should-
http://sites.eoi.com/folder14788/ind...684&product=11 The terminals are in the same location as on the stock battery. The other model Group 35 (actually a 35/75), which is what I have, has the terminals near the center of the battery making the OEM starter cable too short. That won't be a problem with the one shown. |

mulder,
thats the one! You said it should fit, has anyone done it and found that it has fit without any clearance or cable problems?? Anyway, thanks for the reply...would you happen to know what the cold cranking amps of the stock battery are in comparison?? thanks again, my stock battery is almost 2 years old and even tho its working fine I was thinking about replacing it with a red top for the winter. Is the website you linked me too reputable? Dave |

Well I can't personally vouch for that particular website, I just linked to it because they have the correct model shown and their prices do seem very good. But I haven't ordered anything from them myself. If you can find the same model Red-Top elsewhere then fine, just be sure it is the right one. I got mine over-the-counter at Pep Boys here in NY but they only had the 35/75 with the center terminals.
I don't see how that one would not fit as long as it's the same size as the 35/75. I didn't check the physical dimensions to be sure they are the same for both, but the info should be on that site so just take a look. The 35/75 fits perfectly in the tray so if the 35 Reverse is the same size it will fit perfectly also. The height of these is considerably lower than the stock battery so you have to screw the hold-down nuts farther down on the studs, but I was able to do so with no problem as there is enough thread. As for capacity, the stock battery is 325CCA vs. 720 for the 35 Red. That is a big difference and believe me you will notice it. |

Thanks for the information in this post. It's time for me to replace the battery in my WRX. Sounds like I'll be putting one of these Optima batteries in it!

Hey Zacek - do you know if the 51R will fit into the STi as well??? I was going to replace my stocker with the 34 yellow top, but was bummed about having to replace the starter cable - this would be PERFECT and it's lighter to boot. Can anyone confirm or help out on this???

The group 35 reversed terminals fits just fine. I have one installed on my wagon. Obviously it's shorter than the stock battery as mulder says, but that's the only thing.
