Question Anyone have some '97-99 GT struts they want to sell?

I have Koni inserts ready to go on the car, I'm just debating whether or not I want to butcher my stock struts or get a "back up" set to cut up so I can keep mine.

So, does anyone have any '97-99 GT strut bodies they want to sell? I don't need springs or top hats or even the strut innards, just the bodies themselves. As long as they're straight I'll be happy.

Pat- I'm supposed to install shiny new struts & springs this weekend... Presuming this all goes according to plan, the old struts are yours if you want 'em.

You'll have to pay for shipping, of course.

KYB GR-2's, Whiteline Control springs, STi top mounts...

I'm very excited, because the stock suspension, with 117,000 miles on it, is a bit tired, to say the least.

I'll get pics and review the setup after it's done.

Pat I didnt mean to hijack the thread. My old struts would be yours as well but I dont think you would want them. The NY winters must be pretty tough, there is significant structural level rust above the perches on my struts. I think the recycling yard is the best place for them.

No, actually I got 'em on closeout special from Jamie at Allsubaru.com.

But I've bought stuff in the past from Don Nimi at PDM. They're a great outfit. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

E-mail supersubee here on this board. he replaced his struts when he got the car with some KYB AGX's & GC's... not sure what kind of condition they were in, but didn't have a whole lot of miles on them.

Thanks - Jon

Sorry I can' t help Pat. I chucked my struts over a year ago when I went with the AGX's

But, I was wondering how much you are paying for the Koni's? and where you are getting them from (Cobb?). I should just check theCobb site for info but don't they sell pre-installed Konis as well?

I ask 'cause the AGX's won't last forever (I bought them used) and I have in my head that the Koni's would yeild a much more sophisticated ride...

First off, thanks to those that offered, someone emailed me off the board and I have a set of '97 GT struts heading my way from Oregon.

As to the other questions... I got the Konis from shox.com and off the top of my head I don't remember what they cost. I want to say around $450. shox.com is great to work with, they do free shipping on Konis in the continental US. He couldn't do free shipping for me to Hawaii, but he offered (with no prompting from me) to take $25 or $50 or something like that off the shipping charges. Gotta dig that.

The rear strut inserts were special order and the fronts were in stock or vice versa. I ordered them right before I went to sea for 6 months, so waiting 8 weeks for the inserts to arrive didn't really matter.

Cobb offers what Koni refers to as a "wet" kit. Cobb sends Koni some stock struts, Koni guts them, puts in Koni inserts, paints them Koni orange-ish-red, and sends them back to Cobb. This is a significantly more expensive option for a couple reasons. Labor, obviously, and shipping back and forth between Cobb and Koni are part of the cost. Cobb also gets better struts - Koni turns them into Double Adjustables (which have rebound and compression damping adjustment) vice the single-adjustable Sports that my inserts are. D/A inserts are not available to the general public, however, you could send a set of struts to Koni or one of their authorized service shops (such as www.truechoice.com I think) and they could do the same thing for you that they do for Cobb. I don't imagine that Cobb does big batches of these things, so they probably aren't getting any great deal, which means your cost would probably be about the same or maybe a bit better (no middle man (Cobb) to deal with).
