Default something else rigged up... Exaust for OUTBACK

i posted this on some other boards however though i'd share what i did since there ain't anything out there for H6 outbacks

so i still can't leave the car alone. since it seemed no on had a axel back muffer for a H6 or outback i had someone piece me out some muffer parts and went to the local muffer shop to rig something up.

i had them replace the stock muffer with a TRUST aka GReddy stainless muffer and tip (which i'm gonna change this week to a EVO tip which don't looks so ricey.. cuz the tip on it now looks like ever other one out there) besides had to go with something JDM and not some knock off made in china / pep boys muffer.

i also just replaced the piping post axle with the same diameter with a flange. looks way nicer.. kinda loud but at least it feels less restrictive at the mid to top end.

heres some pics.. again if links don't work either cut and paste them or right click on the link for properties then cut and paste the link. sorry the sever i'm on don't like these boards or visaa versa.

Hey Maverick,

That exhaust looks pretty cool. I read your comments and you mentioned that the Trust/Greddy muffler was a little on the loud side. Could you give me some rough idea as to how loud, ie at WOT and perhaps when cruising on the interstate at 65-75 mph ?
I'm most concerned about excessive noise in the interior at cruising speeds - don't need a headache after long trips.

well what i mean a little on the loud side is that i use to have a 3100 V6 chevy with dynomax super turbos on it and it was much quiter then the GReddy one. If you remember back in the day the "Sonic Turbo" muffler... thats what is sounds like just with more of a deeper sound because it's an H6.

the answer to your question... at 65-75mph just under 3000 rpms you really cant hear it. on low speeds you will hear it and i think it would give the normal person a headace or at least ask why is the car so loud. also when you jump on it from the start or when the car kicks down into lower gear... yeah is loud... i mean its not LOUD!!! becuase i have flowmasters with 3 inch pipeing on my other car and thats LOUD! anyways it does sound really cool when you get on it from a roll it sounds like a boxer motor should... with that little blappy sound.

remember GReddy does not make a car back or axle back you your car... in japan they might for the B4 but not to sure if it is the same.

if you want to see some really cool exaust systems for legacys you should get some of the HYPER REV magazine that solely do stuff just on Leagcy's, B4, 300TC H6, etc... really cool magazines. they run about 25 to 30 bucks but well worth it!

good luck

hi russel thanks for the compliment!

anyways i got the mufflet right from GReddy. i have a couple of friends that work there so they had one laying around along with a tip. so it really didn't cost me anything. that muffer comes on a cat back system i would think. and just had a muffer shop weld a new pipe from the axle back and weld the tip on. the cost for the muffler shop was 60 bucks.

you might wanna call them and see if they have any universal one that you can get from them. i like this one cuz it don't look like one of those soup can ones... and the tip is rolled.

let me know if you find something.
