Alex,

Why is it that every time i post a reply to a topic i can't see it until several hours later. For instance, i just posted in a topic with 0 replies and every time i go back to that topic it says it has 1 reply but when you click on it the reply does not show up. Is it a problem w/ my computer only. I haven't noticed it doing this until just recently. Please help!

Rimmie

you need to refresh your page... You are reading the cached page on your computer, not the new page....

I have refreshed the page several time. Nothing shows up, but i think it may be the fact that my computer is hooked up to a server in my apartment, b/c i can see what i've written if i use it.

Have you changed your ISP recently? I once had this because the ISP i was using wouldnt refresh the cache as regularly as they should have. Bit wierd i know, but that's happened to me.

Be sure that you are right-clicking the frame that the post is in and choosing "refresh" from the pop-up menu. Clicking the refresh button at the top of the browser refreshes the frameset but seems to not always refresh the frames within it.

There is a delay between posting and the time the page becomes visible to people to read.. but this isnt normally hours..

If you are using Internet Explorer... try doing a "Ctrl R" instead of just refresh..

This is not a browser related problem. Does it to me to. WHat I do is make my post, then wait for the screen to "forward me" (you know how it says 'wait here or click if you are tired of waiting'?).

If I don't wait, it's as if the server doesn't update the topic until it has a chance to later in the day.

Very annoying. But patience is the key (for me, at least.)

Cool

If none of the other suggestion help you might look into the following. You indecated that this computer was hooked up to a second computer acting as a server. If you are using a proxy server it may be that the proxey server is not aggresive enough about going out and getting new pages. Some proxey servers have a bug or design flaw that causes them to ignore super refresh requests.

If you are going through a local proxy, make sure that it is set to not cache web pages. If it does, you will get the same page no matter how many times you refresh until the proxy's settings decide it is ok for it to update & get an updated page from the site.

if you are using netscape or internet explorer, hold down the shift key while you refresh your page. That forces the computer to get the page from the internet and not from your pc. trust me, it works
