Thumbs up Well, I WAS going to keep my RS...

...but after seeing the WRX in Detroit, I've changed my mind. I'm selling my RS to get a blue sedan if everything goes as planned. It looks MUCH better in person, IMHO, and the amount of performance that you get for the price is absolutely amazing. No other car comes close, except the Type R, IMHO. I want one so badly that I'm willing to get a second job to pay for it. Hehe.

I know what you mean. I owe a lot less on it than it's worth though, and I may be able to get a reasonable trade in offer. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to sell it.

Sure you don't want to wait 2-3 years and get a STI?

i think i am going that way myself. the more i read the more i like. i have read just about every rag out there, and they all like the new car. sure its "softer" but look at the rs in comparison. out of the box, its pretty "soft" compared to the real rex's in japan or the rest of the world for that matter. throw onsome coilovers, or an sti suspension, and you get some of the "rough"ness back.

yes you can throw gobs of money into an rs and have a street monster. but i dont have as much time as i used to(or money to spend on it), and the bumpy ride is starting to get old, especially because i commute 90% of the time, and race 1%.

anyway, i like the new wrx. now if i could only convince my wife to let me getone of the limited addition yellow ones......

Talking

Heheheheh (evil laughter)

I LOVE all this talk... cos when you all sell your RS's, all the little L owners like me can scoop them up!

Course, then my member name will be kinda oblivious... oh well

I have thought hard about keeping my RS and building it up. My main concern is reliability. I need it to be absolutey reliable, like a stock Impreza, because I have some but not extensive mechanical knowledge. I don't think I'd be able to afford the bills that come later if I went turbo. I use my car as a daily driver. BTW, my RS is black, 5-speed, 37,000 miles, 1999, and cheap! Know anyone interested?

Building up a NA engine is not as bad a built up turbo engine. (But the built turbo will make you pee your pants with torque.)

NA gets cams, intake, exhaust, maybe headwork to get ~200hp with reliability. 200hp in an RS shouldn't be too embarassed by a heavier WRX.

If long-term and parts replacement are an issue, remember, the turbo is just one more part to flub up.
