Speaking of purchase orders, I should be getting mine in the mail later this week. I'll post it here to show that it's legit when that happens.
& Keith, they are the largest Subaru dealer (not largest dealer) 2 years running... although you'd never know it by looking at their lot . |

If there are 10,000 WRX delivered (I've heard 10,000 Imprezas of which 60% will be WRX) then that's 17 per dealer PER YEAR! 1.5 cars a month. So if the dealer in NY has 10 or 20 orders, someone will be waiting a LONG time. And when you figure that buying a car at the beginning of the model year means you get to use it longer for the same depreciation as the person who buys it at the end of the year, it may not be worth waiting. Besides, at $24K delivered these cars are a deal.
I've got mine ordered at MSRP, signed, priced and promised. That's good enough for me. Especially since I think after a full article on these appears in the magazines, there will be big demand, and higher prices. But that's just my guess, but then I pulled all my money out of the stock market last year, and was pretty correct on that move. [This message has been edited by Alan (edited January 16, 2001).] |

There's nothing more annoying to me than hearing dealers whine about 'making a profit'.
We have to pay for these cars for years. Every little bit off the top makes a big difference over the life of a loan. No dealer ever gets away with selling cars at MSRP for long - so why should we settle for getting mugged with the WRX now? Salesmen: if you're going to post here, please say something positive about Subaru, don't try and con us. It's hard enough for us to get a good deal on a car at your dealerships. We don't need that crap here. Everyone else: please forgive my ranting.... |

Dont go off on all dealers, Metric subaru is the best damn dealer down here..thats why I have their Logo on my car and refer everyone I know to them. Just in this case it didnt work out
Dave, I am going to be driving up there anywhy to meet some friends + I needed to have this order in soon, because you know I want my yellow + MEtric would not give me the same price as some Stranger upstate. Money is money man, If someone said..."drive upstate and I will give you atleast $500" would you say no? I wont, its free money man. You know I am bringing my car down to ur shop to do my exhaust, intake, boost controler, afc, suspension work, everything, and I will be bringing my brothers max in for stuff also. This is not a personal thing..I would have LOVED to get my car there and I made attempts to, but I was told that I should "go ahead and buy it there then",then after we talked a little bit, I was told that I would receive email the next day with an approx price (because the invoice was coming in the next day), I never got that email. So I called Kevin, and he wasnt there. 2 days later, I called Kevin again, and he wasnt sure what he can do for the price, and he did not want to commit to that price. Dave, I made many attempts, but the better deal was with Van bortel. metric wanted to make a profit, and so did I. But, I will be there for all my mods, and u can make some money on that ![]() I am sure u understand. Thanks Keith [This message has been edited by Keith (edited January 16, 2001).] |

Talking to my Subie Dealer here in Montana, I was told the initial ordering of wrx's (5000) via the internet from the official wrx site don't count against the dealer. All that is needed is the origional email (from the site to the dealer), the puchase agreement, and approved financing. Standard stuff I think, I'll go for $500 - $1,000 above invoice and yellow is the only color I will take. I'll let you know tomorrow what he says, He is contacting subaru NW about the Yellow.

Taken from Larry's site: "1st production run 5000 Imprezas begins delivery 3/14/00, with 10000 total for the year. 40% will Be WRX and 450 will be yellow sedans."
So it looks like there will be an initial mini flood of cars... not just a constant trickle of a handful of cars per month. |

I have bought a couple of new cars, and I can tell you that dealer/sales men want to get as much money from you and me as possible. The "supply and demand" card is played all the time to their avantage. But it is true that there will not be enough supply of WRX? Of course not! There will be plenty of them around. Manufacturer is usualy accurate in their prediction of the public demand. And the number of 10000 is not carved in stone either. If there is enough demand, you can be sure that Subaru will be happy to ship over another few thousand in the first year. I think the WRX will be really hot until the new Acurra come out in August. Not because WRX is not a wonderful car. It is because people like the name Accura and they can perform "mode" on it. At that time I believe you can get around 1k off MSRP. Look at the Celica GTS when it just came out a lot of people pay MSRP with the fear that there will not be enough cars to go around. You can get them now with discount and a rebate of 1k!
Dealer or sales people does not deserve for you to over pay them. And don't worry, they have made plenty before you overpay them! Just wait until the first wave of buying is over and you can have more money for the thing that you want for the car, Sorry for the long rant. |

Keith: I called them, spoke with Diana. She seemed very nice...She said that there was some kind of additional forms that need to be filled out if buying from another state, but that it was 'no problem' doing it.
She wasn't too sure about whether it could be shipped or not, though. It seemed like she thought picking it up in person would be the best way to handle it - I'm probably not going to go that route, but it's nice to know I could. If someone else has hard info regarding shipping, I'd be interested... -Gary |

If anyone can actually get one delivered at below MSRP, go for it!!! If you can't and have to have one, e-mail this guy in Toledo, Ohio. He'll be honest with you and deliver it to ya on a flat bed, at least he did for me 450 miles away. Honestly the best salesman I've dealt with. Beware of empty promises when it comes to the WRX...there aren't many coming to the states and no one can tell for sure how the demand will be.

A-Dog is in GA... they'll most likely just drop ship a local dealer the car & split the $350 with them for the dealer prep.

I sell at a dealer in Lawrence, KS in KC area. I just got the job and before I started no one even knew what the WRX was. We still haven't gotten any paperwork from subaru about them. However, we are taking deposits and will talk price whenever we find out what invoice and availability is. If anyone is interested email me at waistgate@hotmail.com or pm me.
Thanks, John Bieberly |

Yes, I live in the Atlanta Metro area. What Van Bortel told me was that they have this retired trucker who does deliveries for them. They quoted me a $350 charge, all inclusive for the guy driving it down here, and flying back.
Sounds like a good price, but I don't like the idea of me not being the first one to put a few hundred miles on it. (Although I guess that's a good way to get past the break-in point for mods....) -Dog |

I will be the first one putting around 600 miles on it within the first 2 or 3 days. From the dealer I am going to buffalo, then driving around there, then back home. I should have that car broken in within the first week!!
That means i can BEAT on it in 2 weeks and mod it in 3 ![]() hehehe Keith |

Dog, I don't know about having some guy drive a new car down for you. You never know what he did to the car, plus it's not a good idea to break in a new car on the highway.

I wish you could, but dealerships quit doing that because they get hit with a couple percent fee.
