Default Rigoli Baja 331whp

Looks like this hasn't been posted, so I'll throw this up here. Now this is a Baja I could drive (except for the stickers). I found it at www.rigoliracing.com.au but I'm sure Easy Street in the US could perform the 500hp conversion as well.

http://www.rigoliracing.com.au/esx_baja-500.html
Vehicle: 2002 Baja
Power: 331hp at wheels
Engine: EJ25 ESX-500
Induction: Innovative 60-1, Mood Motorsport front mount intercooler
Internals: Billet conrods, forged pistons, copper head gaskets, 14mm head studs, ported heads
Igtnition: Standard
Exhaust: 3" Mandrel bent
Engine Management: Microtech LT-8
Boost Control: Tial 35mm wastegate

Drivetrain:
Clutch: TRP 3000lbs heavy duty clutch, organic plate
Gearbox: TRP Heavy duty Syncro

Ouch that thing could run with the STi's ..

Im not a overly engine technical person, but the engine that is listed on that post is "EJ25 ESX-500" .. what exactly is that??

EJ25 is engine model of the 2.5L just like an EJ20 is the 2.0L.

ESX is from Easy Street Motorsports www.esxmotorsports.com which has some high dollar conversions for Subarus up to I believe 720hp for about $25,000. They have the fastest new style (GD body) Impreza in the world. 1/4 mile in something like 9.75 seconds.

500 is 500 crank horsepower, but that can't be true. I'm guessing this is really about 440hp before taking into consideration drivetrain efficiency loss.

I saw that Baja on the I-5 Freeway in northern LA a few weeks ago.

Why do you say it can't be 500 hp?

Because 331 wheel horsepower would mean a 33.8% drivetrain loss which is extremely high. IIRC, AWD efficiency loss could be up to 27%. At 27% loss, 331hp would be 453 crank hp. Still, it's pretty cool, but is it worth $22,000? Depends how much you enjoy seeing this face:

Sorry, I was just thinking that you were saying that the engine couldn't produce 500 hp. I didn't consider that the wheel hp was already stated.

I ran the car on the dyno a few weeks a go, and the car produced 467hp at the wheels.

The setup in the baja runs 10's in a wrx.

I was under the impression that they just swapped in an ej20. i emailed them up to talk to them about what they've done to the car and got a rather lame response stating that it was just the 500 hp package engine transplanted into a baja. But geez... imagine all the possibilities w/ a 500hp baja "no officer... you must be mistaken THIS BAJA can't do more than 80mph tops... really )

With that being a 2.0, just think about a starting with the 2.5T w/ AVCS in the upcoming Baja Turbo. Is it possible to be even more awesome?

Cool beans. My main questions delt with things such as boost pressure, internal upgrades, ecu upgrades, intercooler fitment, and fuel delivery. However i'm not as interested anymore as much as i love my baja... it's just a matter of time before the STI is mine... i'm waiting for the right black one to come in.

Well here's a question. If it is the same package as the 500hp WRX kit but on the spec sheet says EJ25, is it the same modifications but on the EJ25? Does it have DOHC conversion or is it still SOHC? It's not clear anywhere about that.

Its DOHC and is a 2.5ltr. All the 500 kits are 2.5ltr. Although we have a 2, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5ltr motors.
