Default Hella Micro DE fogs -- do they live up to their reputation?

I'm seriously considering adding these to my car, does anyone have experience with them?

thanks

I have a pair and find they work well. However i have not tested them in heavy fog or snow.

bump from a long ass time ago....

does anyone have any input regarding a comparison between the Micro DE and the Optilux projectors? just based on what little info i could find, it appears that the only difference is that the Optilux uses aluminum in its construction, while the Micro DE uses magnesium. but is there more of a difference? does the DE have better output/intensity/cutoff/etc.? i think i can get the DE for about $140, but if i can get the same performance out of a $50 Optilux lamp, i'll go with that one.

i love my optilux projectors, if you're going too fast for the optilux's lighting in the fog or rain or snow, you're out of luck anyway. i honestly doubt the micro DE's are worth their extra price for 90% of wet/fog conditions.

that's pretty much what i was thinking, cause even the Hella web site doesn't have any information that convinces me that the extra premium is really worthwhile. i'm looking at these mainly to replace the 550s that i have on my leg right now, cause i just need something smaller! i might just throw back in the set of Optilux 2020s that i have lying around, but i kinda like the way that projector fogs look.

anyway, thanks for the input! anyone else have anything to add?
