Thumbs up Utah Sube Meet

I am trying to get together a meet here in the Salt Lake area. I was figuring to have it when the WRX gets here. I have already talked to Mark Miller Subaru and they said they could bring one to where we meet. They will have a date of delivery next month. Any suggestions would be great.

I'd be interested in this as well even though I don't actually own one. Do you have any idea if they're going to have one on display at next weeks show? If so, maybe I can get a sneak peek during show set-up on Thursday. I'll be bringing cars in that morning. If not, I'd still appreciate a heads-up on the actual release date. Thanks.

I'm interested as well.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a WRX at the upcoming show because Subaru isn't unveiling it until next weekend in Detroit.

[Edit:]I guess SOA is actually unveiling it on the 9th, so it's possible that they'll have one at the Utah Auto Show...

As far as location suggestions, I'm not sure. The U of U has some pretty big parking lots which are pretty empty on the weekends.

Edit: "next" weekend instead of "this" weekend.

I don't think we will need that big of a parking lot.....We might be able to get 10 or 12 cars together. I was thinking of maybe having it at Modern Garage.....I will talk to Christian.......

Having it at Modern Garage would be a great idea. Christian says he has decided to get a Subaru.

I am going to stop at Modern today and talk to Christian. If anyone knows of another dealer (besides Mark Miller) that they are friendly with let me know.

Dave send me that address to see the EJ20 pics.......

If anybody mentions Performance Race Engineering, you will burn. Just about anywhere in the SLC valley is fine by me. I think Modern Garage and PRE are the only companies actually doing anything with scoobies. Modern Garage being the HONEST one.
I'll be able to show off my cams then too =)

OT --
Well they charged me for new kyb agx struts, but what I recieved was old beat up stock. I didn't see this initially, because I originally had them do the install. It took them an extra day to complete, then came back and said that the tein springs and the agx struts dont match up. Well it turns out it is because they installed the springs all upside down. They argued with me about correcting the problem saying they know what they are doing. I reinstalled them correctly myself. I also noticed they broke a strut mount cap bolt, then siliconed it on so that I wouldn't notice, then denied ever having done that. They also tore up my interior while gaining access to the rear struts. I did get a full refund on the suspension install, but I am out a $50 strut mount cap. They basically had the balls to argue with me that they know what they are doing and they couldn't possibly have installed the suspension incorrectly. They lost a large sum of money from me because of it.

Question

The place I thought had a good shot of the exhaust flange, does not. The engine is still in the car. I think if you go to SYMS or JUN they have a shot of the turbo header you could see though.

As for PRE, I have heard kind of bad things too. It sounded like they jerry-rig stuff.

What/who are you referring to about the exhaust flange and turbo headers?

Cool

We are going to turbo my car.

Did you see the 1.8L in Vegas that was turboed? I am going to that ,but better.
I have a IHI turbo from an old XT and a top mount intercooler from a Ford. The hardest part of the turbo is the routing of the exhaust. I am looking for some examples to help me.

Heh, cool. I had the same sort of plans, but to turbo with OEM WRX parts. Keep us posted with the details
I think Modern Garage would probably be a great place to do a meet.

[EDIT] What sort of examples are you looking for? Custom downpipes? Any downpipes for scoobies, WRX or not?

He wanted to see what the factory WRX exhaust manifold looks like, and what kind of piping goes from that to the turbo.

Cool

Hey Ronin, you should come up and auto-x or rally-x once our season starts back up. A few of us are going down to Vegas to race this weekend. I will be waiting until Feb 2 for the Pahrump race.

And yes we have snow. On the way to work this morning, the Taurus in front of me spun out into on-coming traffic. It was pretty cool.

Hey SPECTRE23,
When does your auto-x and rally-x season start(dates, costs, etc?)?? And do you have dates and whatnot for events out here in Vegas? PLUS, when do you think you will have the get-together up there, late Jan/Feb?
Thanks, Will
