Yeah, take it to get an estimate from numerous body shops, and then give her the one that is the most expensive.

you should have called the police and filed a report with them and then got her insurance info. make her pay for everything.

Cover your a$$ go get an estimate asap actually get several and give her the most expensive. then if she does not pay right away take her information and give it to your insurance and they will go after her insurance to get it paid for.

Just dont wait it is always best to do things like this quickly.

good luck

Just curious, but was this girl good looking? If some fugly girl hit my car and I was in it. I'd get out and start yelling at her until she cried! Unless she could beat me up of course then i'd get out of my car and just start crying. But I agree with Duo your car looks awesome.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CAR!

They might not want to come out, but legally if the damage exceeds $750 it is supposed to be reported:

VEHICLE CODE
SECTION 16000

16000. (a) The driver of every motor vehicle who is in any manner
involved in an accident originating from the operation of a motor
vehicle on any street or highway or any reportable off-highway
accident defined in Section 16000.1 that has resulted in damage to
the property of any one person in excess of seven hundred fifty
dollars ($750) or in bodily injury or in the death of any person
shall, within 10 days after the accident, report the accident, either
personally or through an insurance agent, broker, or legal
representative, on a form approved by the department to the office of
the department at Sacramento, subject to the provisions of this
chapter. The driver shall identify on the form, by name and current
residence address, if available, any person involved in the accident
complaining of bodily injury.

Now, whether it's over 750 to fix that? probably depends on what shop you take it too, I've seen less than that cost more to fix.....

Get a hammer and break that fog light. Tell insurance company the your neighbor broke it when backing up into your car. That should be about $750 when repairing bumper and fog lights

Whirred!

Luckily I have a garage because there is no way to keep a car nice parking on the street in this city.

And JonnySubaru: obviously English is not FryRice's first language, so give the kid a break.

I just got a $400 check from her

Her boyfriend said something about...... go call dealer and ask them which bodyshop they use. The bodyshop then will help you put some cover paint (like touch up) and it will look the same??

He also said my car have not oxy something and can do this rather painting the whole bumper

$400 sounds like bull to me. I got $950 for a door ding that a $50 paintless dent repair place pulled. It's not "perfect" but my car was brand new at the time and I was entitled to be paid for a solution that would restore it to new. You are too.

NO touch up paint will fix that bumper. Bring it into a GOOD body shop (Cooks Collision, Baron von Frier have been suggested) and see what they say. Any good body shop will tell you that you HAVE TO repaint the entire bumper, plus blend adjacent panels (hood, both fenders) to make it look right. Add to that a new foglight cover too.

Give back the $400 and do it through insurance, and get it done right.

in your term your saying that if it was you, you will have the whole front end repainted??!?!?!?!

HOLY CRAP $950 for a door ding what the heck

Anywho, I dont want to be a jackass and make enemy with my neighbor, since that car always going to park next to me

BTW if i do go with insurance, will my insurance go up or does it not matter?

I'm not trying to sell you a jerk line.

Look at your bumper. The paint is COMPLETELY scraped off in places. NO touch-up paint will make that look pristine again. Her BF is simply LYING to you. Why should he say "you have to bring it to a good body shop and get it repainted?" His girlfriend would end up paying for it. You have to rePAINT the section, and reapply the clearcoat.

Now, NO aftermarket paint will match the factory paint completely. They can do a good job color-matching, but they will ALWAYS have to blend it in order to make it look perfect, and the right way to do it is to repaint the whole bumper and blend parts of the adjacent panels.

Just do it through insurance. She'll be at fault, she pays a deductable (probably $500), it won't cost you anything, and if she doesn't claim damages (which she probably won't since she obviously doesn't care about her car and doesn't want to make an issue of it) then your insurance will never know about the incident - only hers. But even if they do, your rates CANNOT go up for a non-fault incident.

Think about it. That $400 check she gave you probably DOES NOT EVEN COVER HER DEDUCTABLE. It certainly won't get your bumper and foglight cover fixed. Plus, you haven't taken it to a shop so you don't know if the foglight or cover housing needs to be repainted/replaced or what other damage may exist.

I don't want to be mean, but if I'm ever at fault in an accident I want it to be with someone like you

Good luck man. I really do respect and admire your desire to let bygons be...I'm far too anal about my car to be that way myself, though. You will probably live a longer and more satisfying life

$400 sounds about right.

There are places that specialize in bumper scuff repair who will sand the section and spray it.

About 2 years ago I backed my car into a pole in Seattle and took some paint off. I brought my car to the touch up guy, for $100 he made it perfect again and 2 years later, it still looks great!

I'd give you his name, but he's in LA

It depends on a lot of factors - what color your car is, what you consider a "perfect" match for color, gloss, and flake is, etc.

Though it sounds like the OP may be more in-line with what you might consider pristine, you'll get a very different story with someone else (and when that guy opened his door into my car, his insurance company's own preferred body shop said as much to me).

Make sure that any work done has a lifetime warranty, either through insurance or the shop.

I can understand FryRice's situation as his neighbor is still.....his neighbor, even though they may hate each other anyways If it was a different person, I'd probably go balls out and get the person to pay as much as possible.
