Thumbs down Insurance went up 30% on my WRX Wagon

I did not get any tickets and I have all the discounts possible such as multi-car and excellent driving record. I am just wondering if anyone else experienced this on their annual insurance bill? I am currently insured with CSAA aka Triple AAA.

It isn't black, its blue!

Default you are getting off easy-

my record isn't quite squeaky clean like yours, but mine went up over 100% last year.

I think the actuaries are seeing "WRX" on more and more claims and figuring out they want us all to pay for them.

Bummer!

I have a perfectly clean record and the only moving violation i ever got was 6 years ago and i did traffice school. I'm 25, been covered since i was 16. Was paying 700 for 6 months and then the next 6, 21st century raised it to 920. They told me the impreza was upgraded from standard performance to moderate performance. Blame the parents who keep buying wrxs for their kids to crash.

Two things:

(1) Call them up and make sure they applied all the discounts. Our insurance unexpectedly went up, and it turned out it was because someone forgot to apply one of the discounts for my wife.

(2) Get some quotes from other companies. I just dropped AAA a few months ago because they sucked in general. Last year I was in a minor fender bender in a rental car, and the rental company ended up coming after me for the money because AAA kept "forgetting" to pay them. It took about three months of calling AAA to get them to pay.

I was paying about $720/6mo for the last year. This month they automatically renewed my coverage and it went DOWN to about $520/6mo!

At the end of this month my only point (parking lot fender bender) comes off the record, but I'm not sure if my new rate has taken this into account. I'll definitely call and find out though.

you guys are right, mercury is cheap, but you better hope you never have to use it because their actual claims department is a total joke. completely horribly slow.

Some guy opened his coupe door into mine. He had Mercury, and I got the payout check within a week of getting a body shop quote. Of course, I'm not a customer so I don't have to worry about that end.

Yep, mine went up about 10%. Not a huge amount, but hey, $50 is $50 and it takes 5 minutes to sign up with someone else online.

I use to have Mercury, no complaints. Esurance was cheaper, but may not be the case anymore. Mercury's online quote page isnt working, but the cheapest I've found so far is from Progressive - $100 cheaper than Esurance for the same coverage.

I have Mercury as well....2nd car on it.

If you decide to look in to it.....Call Milpitas insurance and talk to Dave...he is the only adjuster whose butt I haven't wanted to kick...he's great.

My rates did go higher than expected...far as I know I have zero points and I pay about $175 a month...or $341 every two months.

Well he's with AAA now. It took them 2.5 years to pay out when I got rear ended.
Insurance companies = crooks. Go with the cheapest and hope you never have to use it.

Soundwave, what company are you using?
