Have a Nice Day? changed my mind, wheels installed. :p

It turns out someone did buy my P7s after all, so I canceled the auction and slapped these babies on the mule today. Not much time to type. Pictures say it better anyway.

also, for those of you who have been nagging, my windows were also tinted recently. so you can shut up now.

1. here is the 18" tire stacked onto the 17" I had on there. not too much difference in diameter. Definitely a 1/2 to 3/4 difference in width, even though both of these were 7" wide wheeels. The tire size is a 225/40/18.

because of the extra width, it BARELY fits against the strut now. I'd say there is 1/4" clearance

ever wonder what an outback would look like with these? (me neither!)

the completed product. sagging a bit in the rear because of all the old wheels and tires in there.

[IMG] [/IMG]

very happy I got to keep these. It's been quite a drama. The ride isn't bad at all compared to 17s.

cheerio!

-Steve

Those wheels look sooo much better on you car, IMO. Great choice! How much were the tires? I'm considering a set of 18s for next spring, but I know the tires can be $$$.
I think those wheels look great!

thanks for the comments people.

the tires were $550 installed.

The wheels weigh between 21 and 22. I get conflicting reports.

monovich - lookin' good I'm glad the 225/40/18's fit on there, I told you it was goin' to be tight I'm glad it worked b/c not all 225/40/18's are as narrow as the Kumho's.

I was SO nervous about the fit because I had to special-order the tire size. I had to watch them get installed because I couldn't handle the suspense of waiting in the lobby to find out.

yeah, I got lucky.

no

I haven't done any canyon runs, but I have zipped around quite a bit around town and taken corners at speed with all the old wheels piled up in the back.

gary: glad the drama is over! ugh. At least it was worth it!

I keep telling myself I'm going to do more power mods... but then something pretty comes up for sale! argh!

seriously how sweet would your car be turbo'd. SUPER SWEET!
forced induction is the ultimate power mod, plus you seem to have good luck on your side so that helps
