Default Lights won't turn off!

Just got back from a country drive, park in the garage, switch off the headlights, turn off the ignition. Got out of the car with keys in hand, and notice the lights are still on Looks like just parking lights. I can get the headlights/DRLs off with the engine running and putting e-brake on. but to turn out the lparking ights with engine off, I had to unplug the battery. Any ideas?

edit: on parking lights

Jim

This is a very hard problem to fix. You might wanna consider taking it to a shop.

You know, it's kinda neat that our lights turn off automatically (no dead batteries), and an override switch is a cool idea... but why just the parking lights?

Because it's a law in some European countries that if you park on the side of the road in certain conditions you MUST leave those lights on - which are set up to be very low electricity consumption.

like the clock

european law- same reason why STi doesn't have fogs- illegal to use unless there is actually fog- at least in certain locations

speed safely

Mercedes has.. or used to have a left and right parking light switch.. so only the lights on one side of the car were lit.
