Post Dash cup holder removal?

I need to remove the cupholder in my dash to clean all the sticky soda syrup but I'm not sure what's involved with removing it. Anyone have any experience with taking it off, or know of any pics online showing how to do it?

Thanks in advance,
-Kagan

Pull it out, remove the screw on either side (2) on the front once pulled out and yank the whole assembly straight out. Voila!

I had to remove 3 screws to install mine. Two can be seen but the third is hidden. You need to remove the radio surround and loosen the screws by the glove box to get enough room to remove the cup holder. I have an MY99 Outback Sport.

Crap, this is starting to sound like a big deal just to clean the thing. Who's idea was it anyway, putting a cupholder directly above the radio and other electronics in the center console?

Chuck-
Thanks for the update. Let me know what you find out, if you have time.

Prezios-
Did a diagram come with the cupholder you installed?

Thanks to all,
-Kagan

I tried it that exact way yesterday and it seemed like it was still bolted to something. Are you talking about the '98RS single cupholder, or the dual one on later models?

Thanks,
-Kagan

the single... and that's all I remember doing. I'll try it later and letcha know. I'm pretty fearless with pulling my car apart. I had to pull my radio out a few weeks ago to fix a quick problem.. had it out in under 2 minutes and my buddy was like... "First time doin' that, huh?" I just laughed and knodded.
