do a search on the WRX STI 22B in the topic line and you'll find the original thread for the trunk monkey definition.... if that doesn't work... do a 'search' for trunk monkey...

and....

scooby... UK nickname for Subaru...
lots of the US bunch use "Subie" and the Aussie's use "Rex" er...????

take a quick look at the FAQ and try using the search mode... or... damn - just email me!!

Trunk monkey-go to www.trunkmonkey.com and click. Read the whole thread and discover how the whole inside joke got started.

Scooby-slang for Subaru. Comes from "Scooby Doo", which sounds like Subaru. Those nutty Brits.

Honduh-derogatory name for a Honda.

****-stands for those white grains that are found in oriental cooking. Don't type it. The Imprezidents get mad.

WRX-the superImpreza found overseas. Puts out tons of hp in the 2.0l turbo engine.

22B-the Subaru holy grail. The best Impreza ever made and marketed to consumers. 400 in the world. Rsquire has one, ask him, but don't be surprised if he breaks into tears. It's stuck in the UK. Da** customs. Da** them.

WRC-the world rally championship. Where the Subaru rally car competes and wins. I'm sure someone can provide you with a ton of rally webpages. Just type "WRC rally" in a search engine and enjoy.

SOA-Subaru of America

SOJ-Subaru of Japan

STi-Subaru Technica International. Subaru's performance division, they make all the cool stuff you want. The only aftermarket company that can get away with making everything pink. Great stuff if you can get it.

SPT-Subaru Performance Technology. SOA's answer to STi, like STi light. Ask for a brochure at your local dealership. It's ok stuff, but nothing to write home about once you've seen the real deal.

Anything I missed?

The Delfino Feroce uses the Japanese spec turbo drivetrain (280hp), weighs only 2000 lbs and does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds! There's definitely room in my dream garage for one.

(EDIT: Upon reading more on the site, it uses a 280hp AWD drivetrain but they haven't decided which of 4 manufacturers they will use for the production model. The prototype uses a WRX drivetrain.)

See http://www.delfino.co.uk for more information.

I second that the P1 is the best production Impreza yet. I don't care if the 22b is a limited production car. It didn't made it on the best car of the decade list!

RS - Rally Sport, Really Slow
OBS - Outback Sport, Outrageuosly Slow
TS - Touring Sport, Truly Slow
L - huh?
B4 RSK - Boxer 4 Road Sport Kompressor (kewlest Scooby name ever!)
SVX - Dunno what that stands for. But it was designed by Giugario(sp) of Italdesign.
SOC - Subaru of Canada
Subes or Suby = Subaru.
H6 = Horizontal 6

...to name a few.

Too add to Subie Gal's post a little...

The RB5 - She already coverd what the RB stands for. The "5" was the number that Richard Burns carried through the 1999 WRC season. The car is also only available in a silver/grey color. (I am not sure of the exact name of the hue however)

You can't talk about Subaru and leave out the roots of the name! Here's a bit of explaination.....

"Subaru is the name of a star cluster in the Taurus constellation. Six of its stars are visible to the naked eye, but about 250 bluish stars can be seen if one uses a telescope.

In the West the cluster is called Pleiades, in China, Mao, and in Japan, Subaru ("to govern" or gather together"). In Japan, it also goes by the name Mutsuraboshi ("Six Stars"), under which title it appears frequently in very old Japanese documents such as Kojiki and Manyosyu and literature such as Makura-no-soshi. Clearly, this is one of the clusters much loved by the Japanese from ancient times. Interestingly enough, FHI was created by the merger of six companies, so you can see what a truly evocative name Subaru is."-FHI

And yes, I agree...the P1 is my first choice with the 22b running a very close second if if not a tie.

Extra bit of info: The very first Subaru was a prototype from FHI known as the P-1 in Feb. 1954, a year later to be named the Subaru 1500! Here are the specs-

Body
Overall (length x width x height) : 4,235mm x 1,670mm x 1,520mm
Vehicle weight : 1,178kg

Engine
Type : Water-cooled, 4-cycle OHV, 4-cylinder
Bore x stroke : 79.4mm x 75.0mm
Engine displacement : 1,485cc
Compression ratio : 7.2
Max. output (ps/rpm) : 55/4,400
Max. torque (kg-m/rpm) : 11/2,700

Suspension system
Front : Wishbone-type independent suspension
Rear : Rigid axle suspension

Deffinitely a step back in time from the current P1

Whoa, got a little carried away there!

But only because I can't get to drive it everyday..

Personally I hate the look of the P1, particularly those little projector lights stuck in the middle of the old lamp covers.. jeez for that money you'd have thought Prodrive would have made a "proper" front spoiler.

When it was at Knockhill it had the 208hp Euro spec Turbo motor. It's manic with that, as it's about half the weight of an Imprezza.

The sound of the BOV is AWESOME..

It kinda "spits" at you much louder than when in an impreza

And it really turned heads in Edinburgh, with the crowds going to the Rugby League. Everybody, including the police just stopped, pointed and stared..

The 22B didn't get a second look. Oh well still overtook it

Iknow, I know Ian. you were taking it easy because its the only one in the world

maybe that's the best front spoiler one out there. Apparently the front fascia was designed by Peter Stevens and it managed to reach like 100mph with less hp compared to other Imprezas.
