Post Got out of a ticket today!

I was doing 48 in a 30mph zone. Didn't even see him (shame on me... I used to be better then that).

All I really did was admit to the speeding and tell him the truth about some stuff and he understood enough to write me a warning instead of a ticket. Talk about nice... If I saw him again somewhere I'd stop just to thank him again.

For those of you in Illinois near Chitown - beware Elk Grove Villiage cops.

Now I'll be spending the next several months making sure I don't speed at all on the way home from work. Considering I got through 8-9 miles of stop & go in that town, it'll be tough, but I'll make it.

PPS - This is true, but I figure I'll post something good among all the "I got a ticket today" posts (no offense guys!).

Thumbs down

Yeah those stop-and-go traffic makes it very tough NOT to drive a little faster when there is room. Good to hear that you only got a warning. I'm not that lucky, but nothing lately though - maybe because I'm not in my RS? (Never got a ticket in my RS, given the amount of time I was in it)

Yeah I was really lucky... hell I'm even barely speeding around at the moment too. Guess getting shaken up helps... the last ticket I got didn't shake me up at all, which BTW I am still driving on (technically - I got a new license, just haven't gotten the recipt for my payment on that ticket back yet).

What can I say... this car makes me want to go faster.

I got you beat 8 complex!

I got out of two tickets today.

Talked my way out of a 45mph in a 30 this morning.

This afternoon I went buy a state trooper driving an unmarked Expedition at 110mph (in a 65). He caught me in traffic (I didn't know he was a trooper, if I did I woudln't have blown his doors off) and I talked my way out of that one too.

However I am now very alert, two close calls in the same day can leave one rather paranoid.

Hehe, getting out of tickets is very easy. The first step is:

1. when you get pulled over, ALWAYS wave your hand before hitting the brakes to slow down. this lets the cops slow down before you slam the brakes on.

2. always turn your interior dome light on and roll down the driver and passenger window, even during the day, especially with any tint

3. put both hands on the wheel and keep them there.

4. always look straight in the officer's eyes and don't act nervous or guilty. your goal is to become a human being and not just a revenue source, most people look down at their laps or their hands, which is always a direct sign of guilt.

5. don't cry, or yell, or deny anything. don't accept anything either. if they say you were speeding, let them know it was possible and that you really weren't noticing because "you were stuck in traffic so long" or whatever.

6. yes sir's and thank you's work, but don't push it too much, sir, yes sir, sir, thank you sir, thank you, yes sir. it drives them nuts

you can easily get out of more than half of speeders following these basic simple rules. remember, the biggest rule is ACT HUMAN AND DON'T DO ANYTHING THAT SEEMS THREATENING!

oh yeah, if they ask for your license or insurance, tell them where it is, that's you're going to get it, and do it slowly. that way they're calm that you're not getting a gun or a knife or a paintball shooter with jawbreakers...
