Which place is better? Lemans or SpeedRing? I've never been karting before, so which would you recommend?

They're pretty equivalent. Similar pricing, similar karts. Speedring's karts have a little less horsepower, but their track is more technical.

they're owned by the same company. Both tracks are a similar layout but, lemans has more powerful karts. Same basic setup though.

Just make sure your brakes are working. Last time I was at lemans, my brake went out while running the track backwords. I slammed into the retaining wall and ended up braking a rib. Still finished the race though. But, I'll be back.

Curious though, what kind of lap times are you guys getting?

Fast lap at speedring was 32.4 seconds. Clockwise

Fast lap at lemans was 23.4 seconds. Clockwise,
24.5 counterclockwise.

I forgot my Lemans times but at Speedring a few weeks ago i turned 29.8s. I usually do 30.5s.

I like the seats at Lemans better. It fits like a glove Speedring seats are made for large people.

High 30's at Speedring, with warm tires. 31's with them cold.
LeMans is about 33-34, I think, but I threw out my timing sheets when I moved, so I'm not sure.

if speedring or lemans is too far for people that live closer to SF; or i guess if people just wanted to try a different course layout, there is supposedly a new place that opened / is going to open up in Burlingame;

Which one is more fun? does the extra 1.5hp really make up for the cooler track? the speedring one looks pretty wicked.

The brakes went out on me the first day they opened! They said I can come back for free but after the pain and embarrassment of running straight into the wall on the straight away i'm never going again. Maybe to watch but never to drive. Everyone said I should have turned at the last second but I wasn't thinking about that once my breaks weren't working all I could think about was pushing the breaks as hard as I could but BAMMM! Right into the wall and I broke the barrier and hit the wall of the building.
