Cool HCI Magazine, Premeir Issue

Has anybody seen this? "Hot Compact & Imports Magazine" (HCI) is apparently a new magazine started by the guy who started Sport Compact Car. I just bought the Premier issue yesterday. I haven't read it in great detail yet, but it looks very good. Suspiciously like my SCCA Sports Car magazine and Grassroots Motorsports. (Hmmm... think that was a marketing move or were they just trying to save money?)

From the Editor's introduction, it sounds like they're trying to make a serious tuner and enthusiast magazine out of it. Personally, I think it looks pretty good (despite the stupid name).

Opinions?

As a matter of fact, we are going to run some articles in HCI. HCI has a good basis for import enthusiasts.

That would be appropriate with your user name to "pimp" your products there

Actually, that would be like equal time for republicans and democrats - VishnuPerformance vs JC Sports. I can't wait...

Seriously JC, I love your products. I can't wait to see you get more exposure.

Personally I didn't think the magazine was all that fantastic but it did have some good tech articles. If they were going to do an article on high-powered Miata's, I would rather see them turbocharge the Miata's motor, not see how great they work with a Mustang 5.0 motor. But to each his own.

It's still not as bad as Super Street though

Question

Hmmm.... This thread dissapeared, but was found when I searched for it. Wierd.

Maybe somebody here can submit a good Subaru projed story to them. So far, all we really get is Shiv's project in SCC.

I thought it was a pretty good mag, overall. LOTS of technical stuff (intalls, etc...) and information about types of racing other than drag racing (MAXPower, Super Street *COUGH*). And if you looked at that article on the Monster Motorsport miata's, they did have some information on a turbo 1.6L called a FX-R that MM makes. But, come on, a Miata powered by a 5.0L motor with a Kenne Bell Whipplecharger on it is where its at Anything that does 0-60 in 4.2 secs is cool.

Actually, I kinda liked the fact that they were serious in their mag...

If I want to see girls, I buy super street, or euro max power, but I really prefer seeing objective writing and good tech articles when i buy a mag. I guess that it's that HCI is different. SCC + GRM???

Cool

I was very pleased with it...I'm all for hot chicks with cars, but when I want to read tech...I want to read tech. Basically, I flipped through every rag on the stand and grabbed the only one without girls plastered all over it (HCI). Great premiere issue with some good articles, but plagued with typos and poor editing (not surprising for their first issue).

Stuff like "disk brakes" instead of "disc brakes," "there" instead of "their," etc. But overall, I'm very pleased. There was just something that tickled me the wrong way the first time I picked up the Euro version of MAX POWER and saw half naked fourteen and fifteen year old girls. Bad enough that they look fifteen, but in their bios it actually says there are.

Isn't that, uhm...illegal?

Have a Nice Day?

8C - Half naked = lots of goodies showing that you usually only see in Playboy. They were still wearing clothes, but the clothes weren't actually covering anything.

I actually just read HCI today (bought it for entertainment durig work) and I like the 'zine, but they need SERIOUS help in editing. Oh and there was a single 'Subaru' typed in there anywhere.
