Have a Nice Day? Blown out by pickup truck

So there I am, on my way to my friends house. I stop at a traffic light with my stereo thumpin out some nice tunes. Out of the corner of my eye I see this big red pickup truck pull up. My head is bobbin to the beat, I slip into 1st gear and watch for the green.

The light changes and I hear tires squeelin over the sound of my radio. I gently ease up through first gear and shift into 2nd. At that time the truck jumps past me. I gas it a little in 2nd, creepin up to the side of the truck and then lazily shift into 3rd at approx 4500 RPM. Then in a big cloud of black smoke the truck lurches ahead and quickly sweeps into my lane, claiming its victory.

100 yards or so further, after I promptly change lanes myself to avoid his smoke screen tactic, a big hoopty car pulls out in front of the truck nearly resulting in a 60 mph T-Bone.

Being the proud loser of this asphalt melting race I drove past on the right side and waved goodbye to the owner of the truck.

Sorry, boring post and misleading subject. Guess im not much of a road racer.

Steve

This was meant to be a non-serious post. It seems that everyone lately has had their foot on the gas racing every car that comes along. The truck obviously wanted to race, he was no match for the RS, I never went over 4500 RPM. As a result I nearly got to watch an accident right in front of me because I let the goof show off.

Sorry, I am in one of those moods today

You sure the truck wasn't "blown"? There are way too many blower kits for those damn trucks.

Trucks are pretty fast, from 0-60 anyhow, after that its basically engine noise and alot of wasted gas. I have never tried a Subie with my truck, but I doubt I have enough HP/Torque to grab it off the line. Hey, maybe I'll drop it into 4WD But seriously, a fullsize GMC truck, with a Standard 350 vortec will give a Subie a great run. They are monsters, but from 0-60 they smoke.

I think I've said this before, a long time ago when my OBS was still stock, there was this Dodge Dakota Super Sport V10 or V8 (can't remember). Well he smoked me when teh road opened up. Of course I had a passenger and some groceries. Still doubt i can beat the guy once the street opens up. I thing that truck has over 300hp.
