Post A few newbie questions, yes I searched

Just a few questions. I still breaking in my car, so haven't opened it up yet, it's an auto. Does it redline every gear when your flooring it. Do other cars do this or just the Impreza, I've heard that it responds differently depending on how aggressive you are with the gas. If it doesn't, can you use the 3-2-1 to select your gear, like a manumatic, 1-2-3-D. Thanks.

It has what is called a "power" mode where it will hold till redline or there abouts.
You can shift is like a manumatic but you can take life off the tranny if your not careful. If you want more aggressive power while driving you can put it in 3rd and it will do alot of the similar things it does in power mode. I have noticed my automatic shifts in power mode at @32mph, @62mph and I can practically hit the speedlimiter(2.2L limited at 112) before I hit redline in third but it most times shifts to D(4th or overdrive what ever people determine it as) at about 90. Hope that helps you out.

Do you put it in third at a certain speed, or right off the bat? Does the manumatic way help at all? Thanx
