Default Going head gasket rate??

Whats the going rate for a complete head gasket job for a 98 DOHC?? All parts and labor included. If someone has avg. dealer cost and time length of repair that would be great. Thanks

Caleb

depends on wether or not the heads were warped from over heating after the gasket went... if the heads are bad, think mucho dinero

Not a dealer... but a local guy had his done (DOHC 2.5 though, if it makes any difference) for ~$1300. That included all the front seals, oil pump seal, H2O pump, and timing belt job

I bet it would be almost 2x at a stealership

I've seen it done for $400 per side at a local dealership.

I was recently quoted $1300 and $1000 by different places to have my new head installed, which is basically the same operation...
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but it can be done without removing the engine, but most places will pull it. That might account for the huge price difference...

Matt is correct.
It "can" be done in the car, but most pull the engine.
If they pull it, ask to have the front and rear crank seals done, and check the oil seperator plate as well. If it is plastic, replace it.
