Default Burning clutch smell

Almost everytime I drive my Baja at highway speeds now, with some minor aggressive driving here and there (I hate driving a manual in the city) I get a smell that's similar to the smell of the clutch. I'm shifting fine, and when I'm on the highway I'm basically not shifting at all. I remember when I test drove a Baja I apologized for burning the clutch (I thought I did due to the smell, but I was pretty easy on it) and he said not to worry about it and that I should get used to it because I'd smell it for a while. I told him I've been driving stick for a while now and he said it's just the car, it's the way it is.

Now, does this sound right? I've been pissed about the mushy shifter, it's sloppier than any manual I've driven yet, and the smell is still there even with ~3,500 miles. I do have another oil change coming up this weekend, but it's been smelling like this ever since I got it, even after my fresh 1k oil change. Anybody else have similar experiences?

if it seems to happen right after oil changes they/you might have spilt some fluid on the tranny and it could be burning off? otherwise you might want to take it to the dealership cause clutches are supposed to last more than 3.5k!!!

for the record mine is smoking like a pig on a spit... however it's probably due to other factors anyone got a clutch fs??

Nope, about 3,500 miles since last change (I'm changing it tomorrow), and still have the smell. I've smelled it for at least the last 1k miles, before that I always had the moonroof and windows open. Now that it's colder and I have the heat on, it brings all the engine smells right in, and I guess the clutch smell too. I'll see if this next oil change helps anything.
