hey all,
at 41k miles and numerous launches and several burnt clutch smells, i think my clutch is pretty much gone. i live in the east bay, what is the best reasonable place for a clutch install? about how much am i looking at? possible to do on your own? and while im already posting... im having cel problems. took it to the dealership and they say it is a misfire. they asked me if i had done any other modifications to the exhaust system besides my hks catback (as it seems like it is the only thing they found). all they did was turned the cel light off. now its back on. only mods on the car is intake silencer removal and hks carbon ti catback. never touched any cats (uppipe/downpipe). i had previously had an hks bov and injen intake on the car, but removed them... lights came on after ~7k miles after taking the mods off. thanks, chris

chris,
misfires can be caused by a lot of things... but to rule out the biggest thing first. do a compression test on the car. if the compression is good in all 4 cylinders... then atleast you know that its not the engine. call chris at i-speed if you want to get a clutch installed chris@i-speedusa.com good luck! I was going to recommend I-Speed also! ...so I second Suby Dude...
It's not those mods causing the CEL... you should have it checked out. |

is it possible to have damaged anything internally with any combination of mods that i have listed above? as far as being hard on the car, i do admit i am an agressive driver, but i don't push the car carelessly.
thx again |

TurnWRX - email chris at chris@i-speedusa.com
sicminded - i think internals can fail even at stock... so its just better, imho, that you make sure that you are getting proper compression. good luck! SD |

damn im hoping it is not anything internal. if it is, it will be major setback money wise with the plans im having for the car and especially my other project car.
two more things to throw into the equation tho: the cel light once in a while shuts off by itself. maybe about 10k miles ago it shut off when i was at a stop idling in the rain. then back on again in a couple of days. and about 2k miles ago, went to the city at night and while cruising it shut off. then back on the next day. maybe a bad sensor somewhere? another thing it might be is maybe i did not reinstall the stock parts properly, im referring to the bov and intake i had on before. i did have to move the whole intercooler a bit to get the black hose back onto the stock bov. maybe i did not properly put it back on? as far as the intake, im pretty sure its securely in and facing the right position obviously because i think it wouldnt even idle if it weren't. thx for the help again |
