Thumbs down 2000 RS Clutch and Wheel bearing issues

Anyone have or having wheel bearing issues in their GC8? Im starting to hear something from the front end on deceleration when cornering and going staight. Also the bearing seem real loud in the front at higher speeds (65). Iheard that these bearings are not sealed. They use the legacy bearings or something?

The second issue is the clutch. Anyone have the clutch chatter problem in their GC8. Feels the same way as my WRX did before I had it replaced 3 times.

The car goes in monday and only has 25K miles.

Anyone know how much I could get for this car if I wanted to sell it? Silver, 5speed, every option, NO dents, 25K miles

Thanks Nick

I just went through the same thing like you

You can get a TSB clutch replacement done for no cost seeing you are under 5/60 warranty.

Although you only have 25k miles, you might be out of 3 years warranty. If so, you will have to pay for the wheel bearing replacement. I had my right rear done last week, I was out of 3/36 and paid $100 deductible due to extended warranty from the previous owner.

BTW, they only do the wheeling bearing that is bad.

MAKE SURE they use the legacy bearings

Thanks Man,
Yeah they'll replace everything for free...I used to work there
This bearing sounds like it is coming from the front. i think its actually both of them. They should repalce it under the 5/60 because they are considered part of the drive train.
Which year legacy bearings??
Thanks Nick

I thought the wheel bearing is only covered under the 3/36 warranty...if what you said is true, my dealer just made off with $100!

I think it is 99 and prior for the legacy bearing MY, I will post the part number when I get home

wheel bearings are not drivetrain.

but to be sure you would have to look in yoru warranty and maintnence book, it describes everything covered under the powertrain warranty.

I have 2000 book sitting here, and wheel bearings are not covered.

bad tires (cupped/worn/etc) can also sound like a bad wheel bearing.

there are no TSBs I know of for front brearings.

Clutch shudder, there is a clutch shudder TSB and it would be covered under yoru 3/36 warranty.

IIRC there was a wheel bearing recall, dont quote me but i think so..for 00-01 models. I had the shudder with my stock clutch, and it was 9769787975x worse when it got cold, sometimes i even had to pull the pedal back up with my foot... that sucked.. just sell it on a warm day and after its warmed up

selling it, Why? hum.. you got a sweet deal on it so im sure you could get what you paid if not close.

TSB on the wheel bearings, not a recall.

I know the clutch is covered under the 5/60, it was done on my WRX 3 times. Im sure me and "!@#$%" dealer can work out someting with the bearings.
By the way the "IIRC" and "TSB" abreviations that you write, I have no friggin idea what the hell that means

IIRC, = If I Remember Correctly

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin.

the WRX wear item warranty is different than the RS.

Im sure the dealer can let you know whats up.
