Talking I just thought of something...

Since there are no emissions where I live, could I do a WRX engine swap with none of the associated legal problems? Or am I missing something?

Yes, you could do it where I live as well, all we have is a tailpipe sniffer test (which in reality is all anyone should have - if it passes there, who cares what else is on it?).

You could get away with it, but it would not be "legal". You would be breaking the Federal Emmission Laws and would risk fines and possible impounding of the vehicle if caught. But that's the thing, they don't go around looking for Federal Emission Law violators, and your average law enforcement officer would not be able to tell.

What about insurance? Your claiming that you drive a 2.5RS with 165 hp, when in fact your driving a car that approaches 300hp. I would think that unless you report it to the insurance agency to be classified correctly that would be agianst some law also.
