Default JDM V7 vs. V8, AVCS hookup questions

Ok so we finally got around to putting more stuff together on my new engine (2.5L STI block, V8 RA heads). I bought a V7 STI engine harness from AV Sport awhile back. It's pretty much identical to the US WRX harness only it has connectors for the AVCS solenoids and additional cam sensors and no TGV plugs.

We got to test fitting the engine harness yesterday and it turns out the AVCS solenoid plugs are the same, however the sensor plugs are not. The sensors are still magnetic pickup sensors but I don't know what else might be different about them. I knew the V8 engine harness and ECU were different from the V7, I guess this is one of the differences.

My first question is does anyone know the exact differences between the V7/V8 sensors? That being highly doubtful, does anyone know what some of the electrical outputs are for the V7 sensors, at idle or while the engine is running? It's just a 2-wire plug so it should be easy to measure.

How do most guys run the wiring for the AVCS stuff? I was thinking theoretically you could just run the 8 wires from the sensors/solenoids directly to the ECU and wouldn't even need the engine harness with the plugs on it. Otherwise where do pick up the right wire for the ECU, at the ECU harness in the car? Here is a picture of the right-hand head which has only the rear sensor for the AVCS, it's a male plug. The harness I have also has a male plug...

Also, I have a V7 STI ECU that I'll be using.

Thanks.

Phil-

Do you have the little white connector or the grey connector?

If all you have is the whit connector you need the little jumper wire.

Dylan is right, you need a short jumper wire which is between the little white connector and the sensor!

Ok so there is an extension of some sort between the two I take it. I'll talk to Ron@Axis, I'm sure he has some around.
